Be Seated

Our DSL went down with the storm yesterday... they used duct tape and barbed wire to get it restored overnight. My blogable accomplishment for the day thus follows today. I'd purchased a remnant of fine fabric, made in the USA from Hobby Lobby 2 1/2 yards +/- a few months ago to redo the seats of our French Provincial Dining Room set. I finally got around to working on it between tornado warnings and MUTTs Inc.

I split the fabric in half then set about attaching the seemed side to the front of the now reinforced chair seats.

With the front firmly stapled down I pulled the fabric taught and attached the back side.

Next I drew in the corners, much like wrapping a package, then stapled them into place.

With all the corners drawn in and the sides stapled into place the seat is finished.

This is what the seats look like when placed on the chairs. I am so happy the large rose was repeated prominently on every seat when I was finished.

There was a small piece about 8" left over scrap fabric when I was done. Also I was a bit concerned I might run out of staples then have to go to town and get more.

A friend surprised me this afternoon to drop off a of seeds he'd picked thinking of me. Made my day !

Gawd What a difference in photo quality from my cellphone to the REAL camera..... Been pretty quiet here. We're having chicken nuggies and french fries for dinner... the grease is on just waiting for JD.

Some fabrics with the older patterns are sure beautiful, and you picked a good one.
Supper here was very simple. Cheese toasties and brussels sprouts followed by strawberries and whipped cream.
I have a pair of swivel rockers that I wish I knew how to fix. The springs in them are weak now, and even with firm pillows on them, they are not comfortable and it is difficult for me to rise out of them...... but I like them!

Thank you. I am lucky to have found just the right amount of scrap fabric at a very reasonable price.

Some of them old pieces of furniture are hard to replace. We have an old 1980's leather couch JD has repaired with lag bolts and 2 X 6's to hold the frame together.

Really nice! Almost inspires me to tackle a couple of seat cushions I've been wanting to redo. I said "almost".
