Here kitty kitty !

MUTTs Inc were in the back yard just raising holy "H" Such a ruckus! I glanced out the window to see what was so discombobulating ...

There along the fence row in the ravine sauntered a Bobcat !!!!

I never even knew they were native to IOWA !

On my third day with no major fever outbreak. Just pretty quiet for us... Looking ahead at a major winter storm to hit us Tuesday.... We are arranging work schedules around it as best we can.

We have heard them scream in the timber down by the creek, but never seen one. There have been other signs of one passing our area occasionally.

I know you seem to be a very generous, sharing person, but please do not share that winter storm with us. I've had it up to my neck with winter weather.

Bobcats are beautiful cats, and cunning and skilled hunters. I, too, am surprised that you would have them in Iowa. We do have them here in the mountains and foothills, and the odd one wanders into the city of Calgary. I've never seen one myself.

The Alberta Clipper that is headed your way dumped 4" of snow here yesternight, and could dump another 4" tonight. The temp is -2F and falling to -13F over the next couple days. Wind chills will be in the high -30sF.

This storm seems to be a very wide path with a back up planned for Thursday & Friday too.

There's no hunting or trapping of them allowed in Iowa.... but it would make a very pretty hoodie1

We are still to be 40 F yet tomorrow. Heating the house with a crappy pine shipping crate just to get rid of it....

I've watched Black Bears and Wolves and once saw a cougar come down the waterfall by our house chasing a deer....The deer ran down the creek to the beach, plunged into the salt-chuck and swam to a rocky islet. The cougar gave chase, but hesitated at the shore and decided it wasn't worth another swim and took off back into the forest.

I saw a bobcat only one time when I was 11 or 12.....I was walking to the outhouse at a campsite....it was dusk on a Summer night up the Skeena River.....It stays light enough to see where you're going until 10-11 pm.up there.....I heard a sound over my shoulder, up high and I turned to look and there was big old Bobcat..I could see the tufts on his ears against the sky.....we stared at each other and I felt such a thrilling upsurge of fear/awe, admiration a kind of joy in the moment....A feeling that drove my life towards seeking extreme Nature experiences for decades after....

Nature's thrills are the kind of adrenaline rushes I go for. I don't really like the caged Zoo motif but rather out in the wild where they rule.

I was unable to sleep last night with the sound of the storm raging outside. It has eased off a bit this morning, and it's lashing rain now. I don't think I will venture out today

That bobcat looks rather scary.

Good to see you are feeling better.

I didn't go out to pet it.

Bobcats strut around here like they own the place. What was really cool is I saw a black one. I didn't believe it was a bobcat at first and looked at the tail end. Sure enough, a bobbed tail. Had to look them up online to see if it was just my imagination, I didn't imagine it. Really pretty cats.

We can shoot them here, but we can't keep the pelts unless we buy a tag. Wildlife game wardens won't relocate them because they are a predator and if they come to get the cat, they will just kill them.

Glad you're feeling better.

I think I will pass setting out a saucer of cream for him.
