Babysitter

Ronnie, our stable hand was once again assigned to "babysit" me to keep me from handling sharp objects or doing anything deemed "Stupid." Ronnie then decided to help me cook lunch.

Homemade chicken noodle soup. I'd purchased a "Family pack" of chicken breasts. In the pack was one of the largest breast halves I'd ever encountered. For a moment I'd contemplated that a turkey had slipped through the gates. I hadn't planned originally blogging "our" soup until the process was over and we tasted it.... Exceptional .... No way to back track and a part of the credit belong to my faithful assistant-- Ronnie.

The broth we cooked the breast in had this array of spices and seasoning. Ronnie diced the chicken as I picked the meat from the bone. I added diced celery, onions and a bag of frozen Peas & Carrots.

Amazingly *Two Chefs* do not ruin the broth! The soup was perfectly delicious for our lunch.

The rain, sleet mix we tracked from the Dakotas has finally arrived. The sidewalk appears to be wet. Currently 34 F ... 1 C the predicted high winds have not passed here. Meds have not kicked in and I have the recurring fever ...... yet......... still

It's a cryin' shame that the meds are not working to eliminate that fever that is afflicting you, Bret. I sure hope your cute young Doc knows what he is doing.

It was a nice 56F here today, bright and very warm sunshine. I drove to the city to get a few grocs and pick up a parcel for the neighbor. Took the little doggy with me. Put $25 of gas in the tank and it barely moved the needle on the fuel gauge. Gasoline is now $1.47/L. or $5.56 per US gallon. Tonight we have a very slight chance of a flurry, but I think it will miss us. 32F tomorrow, and back to sunny 44F on Sat and Sun.

THAT SOUP LOOKS REALLY GREAT. I AM PREPARING A POT ROAST AND THE BROTH SHOULD BE NICE. I HAVE CHANGED THE WATER TWICE SO IT SHOULDN'T CONTAIN MUCH FAT AND ONCE THE VEGGIES ARE IN, IT WILL MAKE A NICE HORS d'OEUVRE FOR DINNER. I REALLY HOPE YOUR FEVER DROPS AND YOU FEEL NORMAL AGAIN VERY SOON. I AM STUCK HOME BECAUSE I STRAINED AN ANKLE AND PULLED MUSCLES BY OVERDOING EXERCXISES. AT LEAST IT IS STILL SUNNY AND WARM FOR WINTER.
Our Temps in North Iowa have taken a nose dive below zero with highs in the single digits. There is nothing like a veggied up pot roast and the cold beef sandwiches to follow.
