I've been poor and unhappy, and financially stable and happy.

The important thing is to be HAPPY! No matter what your financial situation.
It only takes a drop of ink to make a million people think. There are many stories.

I have been poor and happy and also financially stable and happy. Having grown up with no money certainly makes you more appreciative of what you have today.

It depends on what you mean by poor? Most of us.. have a great advantage to being poor.. Having more money actually means very little. The things we once would spend it on have far less importance. Once one realizes the money security is far less important when, in truth, there is no real security, no matter the amount of money. Although helping and giving can add to happiness .. not doing so doesn't mean unhappiness.
