Much Ado About Controlling Access to Porn, but Nada About Controlling Acess To Mass Murder Weaponry

In wake of the most recent Colorado mass gun massacre, not too far from the original one, Mayor Bloomburg has called on both presidential candidates to say how they will control such actiities in the future. With the powerful NRA lobby dictating how the GOP would vote in recent votes to hold Eric Holder in contempt of congress, Romney did not utter a word about gun violence. With the Democrats, dating back to Al Gore losing votes when they spoke out for tighter gun control, neither did the president speak out again for increased gun control. The NRA has effectively silenced the government. The Colorado gun man man shot 71, killing 12 so far, all with legally obtained guns, e.g. one an AR-15 magazine-fed semi-automatic rifle that allows multiple shots to be fired. It would seem, at the least, some questions might be asked as for what purpose such a rifle might be needed or wanted. Certainly not for self protection.

No comment on increased gun control, but Romney has promised to put porn screens on every computer sold in the U.S. Much ado about controlling what you can access on your personal computer in your home, but nothing about screening to control access to weapons that kill many. What's wrong with this picture????

If you believe in the Bible. Then read Genesis. Man has been killing man ever since we have been on this earth. Way before guns were even thought of. So it isn't the guns. It's thepeople.

And armed society is a sage society.

The only reason that hordes of jihadists aren't landing on the coast of the Carolinas is that they know Americans are armed and ready to take them on.

It would be a pretty Dumbazz Person that thought if taking guns away from the Good People would get them out of the hands of Criminals.

Hi Sunshine: Even if every person in that theatre was carrying a loaded gun for self-protection, the murderer had bullet proof protective gear on every part of his body.

I wonder how many murders there are going to be before people have another look at all these violent video games and movies. Making sure adults watching two people having consensual s*x in a p*rno video can't be more harmful to society than all the violence in movies or video games where you get points for shooting people???

bijou, if the respondents on this site had answered any differently, it would have shocked me. This is exactly the mentality that the 1% depend on. Need I say more?

Deranged? Then I guess all the hatred directed at gays, causing people to murder someone for loving someone whom society does not approve, are deranged. At least they hope a jury might think so and not hold them accountable. Probably many of those killed believed in carrying guns. As I indicated in my short blog, I'm not saying people should not own guns, I'm saying why not ask more questions about why the need to own assault rifles??? How many people in such short time do you need to be able to kill to protect self and home? Assault rifles get of 50+ rounds in less than a minute according to Aurora's police chief. Why not have a data base that screens and stops a person from buying multiple guns without further scrutiny. If you can screen people going on to porno sites and prevent them access, you certainly can screen gun purchasers and prevent them sales.

That's unlikely in that a shoot out, as you indicate, would have surely caused more deaths, and only he was protected by bullet resistant gear, or do you wear such gear as a matter of routine?

No, I don't believe in the bible, as it is man who wrote the bible, and the contents espouse different versions, much based on the political times in which it was written. I agree with you it's the people. I'm surprised no one has claimed it's God's will yet.

Well, we keep paying taxes through the nose...and other parts of the anatomy, to land on other's shores, guaranteeing the hate of generations to come, thus generations of wars to come. Even the great conquering Romans eventually fell to nothing because of incessant warring.

The Police Chief of Aurora stated in his evening press conference that all the firearms and the ammunition were purchased legally. From all accounts the shooter was a good student as he graduated from the University of California-Riverside near the top of his class with a degree in neuroscience. As one person was heard saying "Just a typical American kid." No criminal record, never been in trouble with the law as far as anyone knows. Why shouldn't he be able to purchase a firearm?
Did you bother to read the blog???? Where did you read I said he should not be able to purchase a firearm??

Thanks dissing opines that don't agree with yours.

Your self analysis is a little shy of an expertise to provide a valid response and avoids/negates ANYthing that would poke holes in it.

While your yammering about guns. (What else are you afraid of). Find some facts to support whine. Meanwhile... Try this on and see how it fits.

Search |bomber dressed as a tourist|

"HE looked like any other impatient tourist checking the big board at airport arrivals: a lanky, long-haired man in a baseball cap with his hands in the pockets of his plaid Bermuda shorts, a bulky backpack hanging from his shoulders.

Minutes later, authorities say, the man, filmed by security cameras at the Burgas airport, would board a bus filled with young Israeli tourists and blow himself up, killing six others as well. Authorities are looking for clues as to who he was, using his fingerprints, his DNA and his fake Michigan driver's license."

I, for one, am glad that Americans are a gun-toting nation. The American devotion to an armed society allows us Northern Socialists to live in a society with a far lower rate of gun deaths because we restrict firearms endlessly.

If the Americans weren't armed, we would have to be to prevent the Soviet and Jihadists haters of freedom and democracy from pouring over the North Pole

Hi Sunshine: One time I was in a bar and they had a separate room for video game type of machines. I saw the room was packed with teenagers and they were all lined up around this one machine, so I went in to see what they were all looking at. I could not believe my eyes. There was a video game where the player is walking down a long central hall of a high school and there are a bunch of closed doors off the hall. Doors would open randomnly and behind one door was the principal, behind another door was a student, behind another door was a teacher, then a janitor. The goal of the game was to see how many people you could shoot before they closed their doors, and points were awarded depending on who you shot. More points if you killed the principal than the janitor, etc. As each person was shot, they fell to the ground in a big puddle of blood screaming in pain.

OMG, I went right to the owner of the bar and told him how disgusting it was to have such a violent game like that. He said the game makes tons of money and that's all he cared about. I called our local newspaper and told them about the game. Again no interest. I wrote a letter to the editor of the paper, but don't know if it ever got printed or not. Personally if I had a teenager I would rather have them watch p*rn than to play a violent game like that.

Along this line, we should ban automobiles, knives, and all other objects that kill. We should have a 3 day waiting period for buying drugs. If someone is caught with a gun, lynch his gun and set him free. And we should always punish those that committed no crime instead of those that did.
