A Gentle Soul

My heart goes out to Canada with the loss of the talented Gordon Lightfoot. Prayers and strength to his family. A showman to the end.

Twilight he was always a favorite of mine. I remember going to the lake in the summer time with a group of friends and we would sit around the campfire and sing Gordon Lightfoot songs. He will be missed forever.

    Quoting champiuzat:

Those were the two albums that charted (only just for 1 week each) in the UK, but most people would remember him for the singles 'If you could read my mind' and 'Sundown' which made it to #30 and #33 on the singles charts and stayed in the charts for 9 weeks and 7 weeks.

I was surprised to find he also had a top 40 with 'The wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald' and another top 50 with 'Daylight Katy'.

Here in Michigan's Upper Penninsula, The Wreck of The Edmond Fitzgerald is iconic. It is played many times a day at Whitefish Point, which has dedicated a portion of its museum to the wreck.

He wrote some lovely songs. My favourite was " If You Could Read My Mind". Rest in peace, Gordon. .
