WHEN I WAS A KID IN GLENCOE ON THE NORTH SHORE IN THE CHICAGAGO BURBS, THE LAKE OFTEN FROZE IN WINTER AND IT WAS POSSIBLE TO WALK ON THE ICE FOR QUITE A DISTANCE. I DOUBT THAT HAPPENS MUCH NOW.
