Boomers !!!! The post war generation wasn't so bad after all. Jobs, homes at affordable rates, groceries, automobiles, vacations, schools, family dinners, bikes, playgrounds, parks, Dad's working, stay at home Moms. We didn't have premade foods. Mom cooked it all from scratch. Why she even made all her own formula for the newborn babies, she didn't rely on store bought formula because maybe it wasn't there. Families were leaning on friends and family if a bad time hit. Not the government. You knew your neighbors' and they became family. We helped each other, good times and bad. Church was a place families went together to worship. God wasn't the enemy. Do you remember laughing. Back in those good ole' days it was a sound that filtered through the air every day. Don't get me wrong. They were not all Leave it to Beaver days. We had bad days too. But nothing like today. I look at the world today and it's easy to see what went wrong. Progress? Greed? Competition? Did we move to fast? Did we become greedy and want it all now? The bigger the better? Credit Cards, big box stores. The list goes on and on and here we all sit finding how easy it is to blame the government, corporations, etc. When is it our turn to start to blame ourselves? We didn't cause all of it. No. But we had choices. Did we make good ones? It is funny but the one thing that keeps roaming around in my head is this thing about formula. I remember I had to make my own formula for both of my . I didn't have store bought diapers. I had cotton ones that I had to clean and wash. I did have a washing machine and dryer but honestly back then I preferred some things dried on an outdoor clothesline. Can't new mom's today make their own formula? Remember this is only my opinion. At my age have I remembered facts or fantasy? I have this problem of wanting to see good not bad. Positive not negative. |

Louise, it is good to see you. I thought maybe you were one of those bloggers who just leave, and then sadly pass away and nobody knows. I agree with a lot of what you have said. But it's not a problem, it's an admirable trait to want to see the good, not the bad. I was just telling a dear friend that if we only focus on what the internet and TV show us, we get more depressed and worried. We need to look for the positive things that are happening around our own areas and appreciate the good we see in people. There is a lot of good going on in the communities surrounding us, but it never gets recognition from media. Be a prism, spreading God's light and love, not a mirror reflecting the world's hatred.

Oh, and one thing I'm not sure if you know about the blogs these days. There has to be a comment made on it for it to show up on the page of blogs. Most of us make that first comment, even if it's only one word. I just happen to spot your blog because you are still on my watched blog list. Be a prism, spreading God's light and love, not a mirror reflecting the world's hatred.
