Every year, I work in tickets saIes at the the WV State Fair. It is always like a reunion when I reconnect with the women that I work with year after year. This year the Health Department suggested that we work in the same place with the same people the entire Fair Week . I am at the Fair Street booth for the rest of the week by myself. Bummer but that's life life's terms.

The first , it was a major league challenge hobbling from the employee parking lot to the gate to the office. A problematic hip with cellulitis is not a fun scenerio. Happily, I go the booth Fair Street in a golf cart. Yippee!!!

Sunday was Day Four and it's getting easier. Walking however difficult is the best way keep the circulation moving.

I walked past the Democrat Booth and joined my colleagues at the Republican Booth. I connected with them at the State Fair FlVE years ago when I was sitting in the Democrat booth. I've learned work with lawmakers from both sides of the hall.

I was heading the main building for work and walked by the Democratic Booth. There was one photo of the lone Democratic State Senator - but no photos of Joe Biden or Joe Manchin. The gentleman manning the booth offered a Cindy fan. Democratic Cindy lost her seat to Republican Todd in November 2020. I replied that since I just came from the Republican Booth - my colleagues would find it strange if I were waving a" Cindy Fan." He offered to bring of them to the Republican Booth. I jokingly told him that we were talking about loaning him our cardboard image of Joe Biden.

We discussed the various issues including the fact that the lone Democrat State Senator is doing a good job. I frequently question the integrity of the lawmakers in Washington D.C. On the other hand, I am confident of the integrity of our local political leaders.

Bernie, Joe and Donald are on a Zoom .
Bernie Sanders, Joe Biden, and Donald Trump secretly have regular Zoom conversations.

Bernie: “I dreamed last night that God spoke me. He said that he wanted me be president.”

Joe: “That’s funny. I had the exact dream.”

Donald: “I don’t remember talking either of you last night.”

Nesting Dolls - I found the lady in an Antique Shop and was gifted with the others.

I made it on the RAINELLE Police NAUGHTY LIST for speeding through their town. I was driving vii miles over the speed limit in the company van. It got a good laugh from the women I was transporting who always complained about how slow I drive. I sent a Grinch with the payment for the ticket and got a reply with a Grinch from the City.

I found an empty bird's nest on my front porch..

The Offensive Rock and the Wandering Dude

Nileyears did a blog on the removal of a rock because of an offensive name that was used in an era when that term was commonly used. She mentioned having a Native American Grandmother - with a different story.

It brings to mind a similar scenerio. I belong to a group for houseplants. Wandering Jews houseplants have to be called Wandering Dudes houseplants. I personally think it's kind of silly. I have a Jewish Grandfather. Is his story my story? He spent his years in a boy's reformatory and was transferred to San Quintin Prison at age 19. I have never been in a reform school nor served time in prison. I have been in the back of a police car and had to do community .

My grandfather did eventually become a responsible law-abiding member of society as I have.

So I recently learned that my maternal Jewish Grandfather was possibly a member of the 12 Step Community. I stumbled into the same community a few years after his death. While his story is not my story - my story is a continuation of our family history and story. There could have been a very different outcome.

Seven years ago, I sold my house with no clue what would lay ahead. Grumpy died years before and my Wal-Mart wages could not maintain that house. I remember when we brought the house in 1999. Grumpy was an electrician could no longer do the work because of Cardiac Health issues. I talked him into taking an early retirement, selling the house in California and moving someplace more affordable. Somehow, we ended in West Virginia.

He bought an international truck and I followed him cross country in our Aerostar Van. We brought f0ur cats and picked a puppy in the desert. Ironically, my younger liked the adventure of the International Truck while my step- preferred the comfort of the van. We joked about the Steps riding with the Steps.

It was January when we arrived in West Virginia and I had never driven in snow before. The furbabies made it across that rainbow bridge. Grumpy died. The b0 became men. It was more house than I needed or could afford. I sold what I could and gave the rest away to FREE CYCLE.

While I was in the middle of moving - a friend called and asked me to work at the Women's Transitional House that she founded. It's funny how these "temporary part-time' jobs work out to be something totally different. My plan was to leave the state but it didn't work out quite that way. I had trunks that I purchased at Wal-Mart when I moved into Senior Housing a few towns away. I still have plans to move to Atlanta but I don't know when it will happen. I will have to take items to the thrift show and fill those trunks again.

Yesterday a XII Step girlfriend called advising "We HAVEN"T seen you at any meeting in a week. I expect you to be at the Tuesday Meeting tomorrow. Are you okay? Should I pick you up?" Dah! At XLIII years - I am not concerned or a like a naughty skipping church.

Later that night I was in the Emergency Room getting pumped full of antibiotics. I am so tired of IV's, vampires, and needles but it could have been worse. I actually felt better today and got out to do some errands. The outdoor food pantry was in dismal shape. It looked like someone put in stuff that they received from the in bi-monthly pantry at a different church stuff they didn't want to eat.

I am certain that refugees from THlRD World countries would be grateful but we can do better than that. So tonight, I went the meeting. The lecturing GF didn't even bother to attend. On the way home, I stopped at the local dollar store and was able to restock the pantry for a small amount of $$$$$.

The Bi-Monthly Pantry usually serves the elderly and the non-working poor. The outdoor pantry serves the working poor. Philippine and Jamaican workers from the local hotel.

My Higher Power takes care of me in so many ways thus it's my obligation to be an instrument for someone else's blessings. It is also very gratifying to realize that I can be part of a young girl's success by helping her project to be successful. Women should be empowering and uplifting each other.

I remember how those Lucky Charms made my heartbroken s0n's day a tad bit better. I can do the same for someone else. Life on life's terms.

The latter part of the morning, I managed to get out, run a few errands, stop at the local Java House for a latte, and check on the food pantry box by the Baptist Church.

This is a community service project by a girl scout troop. Folks can take or add to the pantry. Since I order from Amaz0n in bulk, I always add a few items from those purchases to the pantry. I found out that my eccentric neighbor does the same. Neither of us are wealthy women by any definition but sometimes small contributions can have a ripple effect in someone else's life.

The contents of the box are pathetic so I will be adding items tonight and I am sure that others will do the same. The end results can be magickal!!!

Winter of 2019 - My y0unger s0n was staying with me after leaving a bad relationship. He has a tendency to look in my refrigerator and ask "Where's the Food?!" I had to run to the store and get some "Billy Food" mostly Pizzas. One of his favorite cereals is Lucky Charms. I stopped at the panty to add a few items including a box of cereal. I noted that there was a box of "Lucky Charms" in the pantry so I did a cereal exchange.

My was so depressed because - he broke up with his girlfriend and moved out of their home. He works on the road and she had his car which she wrecked. She didn't pay rent with the money that he sent her. His plans to buy a new car fell through courtesy of the Pandemic. He found himself homeless, out of a job and his car in the junk yard. I assured him that he would land back on his feet as the miracles fell into place. I had to remind myself that he has a Higher Power too.

The Magickal journey started with a box of Lucky Charms.

My Great Granny Kentucky was a Magickal Appalachian Woman. I share her inclinations and we were very much kindred spirits. When I burned myself while working at a bakery - I quickly quoted a chant that she used to fix burns. Isaiah 43:2 - When you walk through the fire, you will not be burnt nor will the flames kindle up against thee.

MrsJoe reminded me of one that is often called the blood verse in Appalachian History. Ezekiel 16:6 - I used it when I was hospitalized for internal bleeding.

Ironically, Annie my 12 Step SpiritualAdvisor/ MENTOR and MrsJoe are both from Illinois. The first lesson I learned from Annie was to take blind faith moves and know that it would fall into place. I've done this many times and it l always does. She has saved the life of many women struggling with alcoholism/addiction and we in turn save others.

I was not exactly MsPopularity when I first joined SFF in 2005. My first profile was bOOted and when I called to try and get it back - I was told the profile and all future profiles would permanently deleted. I created a new profile. That was F!F+een years ago, and I have managed to stay out of trouble since. I remember when I used to call MrsJoe - MsX-ianity.

Somehow, we managed to iron out our differences and she taught me some very valuable lessons. A long time friendship has emerged. My brother was dying and I was frustrated because I could help him so little. I mentioned to Mrs. Joe, "All I can do is pray for him." Her response, "Praying is a lot." Now whenever we do the Lord's Prayer at the end of a 12 Step Meeting, I visualized my younger and his friends in the center of that prayer. Prayer is a lot.

Never in my wildest imagination - could I visualize myself managing the local GOP Headquarters and working with a bunch of Church Ladies during the election. One of my best friends was a pastor's wife. When I need a group of prayer warriors, I have a list of women to call. LOL!!!! Praying is a lot thus says the Wise WOMAN!!!

A few years ago, I was on a Lobbying Adventure in Washington D.C. I love coffee houses and Starbucks. Starbucks has become the butt of political agenda. Folks would write Donald Trump on orders forcing the Barista to call out, " Donald Trump!"

This is usually some who is trying to make a living and put himself/herself through college. People will also order in the name of Merry Christmas forcing the to yell out Merry Christmas instead of Happy Holidays. My goal is to uplift these young people versus using and humiliating them for a political/personal agenda.

I asked one young man to write the words MERRY Thanksgiving on the coffee cup just to give him a laugh. Now I am the Magickal Appalachian Womyn and MENTOR!!!1

Throw Back Thursday - Amends to Mum Step IX

My Mum had a very troubled childhood thus as a result - my childhood was troubled. . We were both Hard of Hearing which can create a feeling of isolation. I turned to alcohol while she went to the boobie hatch on a regular basis.

I stumbled into the 12 Step Community and gained tools to do better while all she got was the Thorazine Shuffle and shock treatments.

Our relationship was troubled because of her anger control problems. My biggest regret in life is not being able to protect my siblings and failing to stand up for my father. He was just much as a victim of domestic abuse as any woman.

Yeah Yeah! I know it's not a 's responsibility to protect siblings or a parent but it was hard to watch. Nevertheless, would I condemn my Mum to a lake of fire because of her shortcomings. Absolutely not. I just wanted her to get well.

Making Amends does not mean, I am sorry. It can mean setting boundaries, airing grievances respectfully, clearing out negative energy, ad infiniutm.

The opportunity came in 1995. I purchased her a plane ticket from Arkansas to California for my wedding. I was working but also purchased her and my b0ys bus passes. They took her to the beach ALOT!!! On the weekends - Hubby and I took her to the Clothing Optional Beach. She got to sit next to her naked -in-law I took her a Psychic Fair where she was introduced to her Guardian Angel. We went to the Ventura County Fair where both Grumpy and my Mum got in free as seniors. She played Bingo. Later, I took her to a male strip show. The next day, we went shopping for wedding attire. I saved a whole lot of $$$$$$ because I didn't have to buy a wedding dress. I should have bought her a great big towel when we arrived at the Nudist Resort for the wedding. She did wear the tree house tee-shirt on her plane trip back to Arkansas and wore it at her bowling game the next day.

She moved to Las Vegas in 1999. First my grandmother was diagnosed with cancer and passed away a week later. My mother died suddenly and unexpectedly a few months later.

I believe that healing can happen on either side. My mum didn't have an easy life but I am reasonable certain that she is doing better on the other side.

Thoughts About Anti-Vaxers

I have a neighbor who is extremely germophobic thus keeps a distance which is fine with me. However she has reached to by leaving notes on the door and one point left a bag of quinoa, brown rice, and seaweed. Brown Rice is on my no-no list and I used the seaweed to make special water for my container herb gardens.

I wrote her a note gifting her with Green Soup, another soup with bone broth and pineapple. She walks up and down the sidewalk of the apartment building. Thus I stepped outside to greet her. She told me that she is allergic to coconut milk and chicken but can totally do pineapple. She also mentioned that she did not get the covid-19 vaccine because she doesn't believe in vaccinations.

Dah! This lady was recently hospitalized for congestive heart failure. The one time she rode in my car - she requested that we all wear masks and keep all the car windows down. This was in winter. This woman is terrified of germs but more afraid of the vaccine than she is the Covid-19 Virus. This is a woman who would be in serious trouble if she caught the virus.

I try not to be judgmental but found myself feeling annoyed.

The West Virginia State Fair was cancelled last year. It will be open this year but we are required to wear masks when working indoors. Masks are a nightmare for those of us who depend on lip reading for communication. As a result, I will be working in a booth by myself for the entire fair. Dang, part of the fun of working at the Fair is the companionship of the women I work with every year.

People like this neighbor are the reason why we still have to live a restricted lifestyle despite the vaccine. Granted there is a risk with the vaccine but there is also a risk without it. I would rather take the risk and spend the rest of my life being free to go out and about in the community. Life on life's terms.
