What career would you have liked to have?

On one of my posts, someone said that he would have liked to do a different job, than the one he ended up doing. I wanted to become a social worker. My mother knew someone who had become so involved with her , she ended up a drug addict. My mother feared that would happen to me because I care about people. I didn't feel the same but what can I say, social worker was out. I ended up getting degrees in computers and accounting instead, to be practical. It led me to my current job of writing erotica. So, we see how the practical route can turn out.

Did you end up having the career you wanted? I would love to hear what job you did or do now and what you really wanted to do.

I was looking at how many posts I've written here. I noticed it's only been about 2 months that's I've been actively blogging at SFF. It's become very important to me. Some might say, TOO important. But who cares what they think?

I've been enjoying myself. I've met wonderful people like RosesLady, Dianne, Diane, Francesca, Helen, Rocket, Shartaun03, Nileyears, earthytaurus3, Alfie, Ann, Pat, Spirit, Bill, Dan, Suellen, Doug, Lyn, Maisie and so many others. If I didn't mention you, it's only because I can't remember everyone's name. My memory isn't what it used to be. Yes, there have certainly been differences of opinions and some stress but overall, it's been a truly positive experience.

I want all of you to know, it reminds me of when someone becomes important in your life. You wonder how you lived before knowing them. I feel that about most of you. I need to start working on my books more, as this site can be too addictive but even if I cut back (I really should but probably won't. I'll try.), I will continue to keep coming here daily. I am not leaving this site so no need for anyone to say to stay. I am staying. This was merely to let all of you know that I feel like I'm among friends and who could ask for more than that? Thank you to all of you for making me feel so comfortable that I could be myself. That's priceless to me.

Genie grants you 3 wishes: Would you do the same things if wish#1 was to redo your life?

The easy answer would be to say I would do everything the exact same way. After all, I love my boyfriend and I'm certainly happy about that. However, I would be dishonest if I said I wouldn't want to change many decisions I made. They were made when I was younger and if I could go back, I would do things very differently. I trusted the wrong people since I was very naive. I wanted to have .

Anyhow, what would you do if that genie in the bottle granted you 3 wishes, including doing your life over if you so desired?

Hobbies - just for fun or did any lead to earning money?

Tell us about your hobbies. Sometimes a hobby can turn into a money earning activity. That's what happened with my erotica. I wrote them for fun and then found out there's a market for it. That led to it becoming my job. Did any of your hobbies become a way of earning extra money?

This is the only political post I'll likely ever write

I am not political at all. I've said that several times. I can't help noticing though that 2 themes keep being brought up, regarding politics. One is about Obama and his policies. The second is about Israel. I read Maisie's post and I too have wondered why Israel has been singled out. There are so many countries in the world and so much violence. It's one thing if there was an equal distribution of posts regarding most countries but why is Israel singled out? I would be saying the same if Greece/Italy or any other country was being constantly criticized. I would be thrilled to check out the blogs and not see anything related to Israel at all.

I won't accuse anyone of anti-semitism, though I have read some blog comments that to me certainly sounded like that's an underlining theme of the comment. Sometimes that assumption is incorrect so I don't like coming to conclusions unless there is enough fact to back them up.

I came on this site to meet a guy, originally. I have my boyfriend so I stay here to have fun. I wish the animosity between some members would stop. I had some issues myself and I think most are resolved. The only one that isn't is with the woman that banned me. That's her choice not mine. I would like to clear the misunderstanding but she doesn't. I just want peace and to have a good time. When I read about all the issues, I think to myself, how can there be world peace when SFF members can't get along. it's sad really.

PLEASE don't comment back with how Israel did this or did that. I am sure Maisie and others (I won't give a reply to political comments because I'm not qualified to do so) can tell you how other countries do the same or much worse. The issue is why pick on ANY one country.

I do apologize to those that thank me for putting on blogs that don't lead to arguments. This blog post is an exception for me. I hope to not put any like it again.

These pictures are from Madame Tussauds in London, England. I assume that it's alright to post these today even though it's not a Monday. If I'm wrong, please let me know. Previous pictures I posted, I didn't notice about Photo Monday, until 2 days ago.

I think you'll be able to figure out which celebrity is which. The last isn't a great picture because it was dark there. I wanted to show the vehicle used for the ride we took. I'll be showing more pictures from the wax museum in a later post (s). I hope you enjoy seeing them!!!

Do you love yourself?

This might be too deep for a blog. I guess the response it elicits will prove one way or another. I just have to say that I know people who can't look at themselves in the mirror, or if they do, they don't like what they see. Sometimes it's about their weight, other times it's about other things.

It's strange because my life hasn't exactly turned out how I planned. I did well in school and expected a bright future. Unfortunately for me, Murphy's Law (anything that can go wrong, will go wrong) frequently happened. This isn't to show self-pity. I always found another way and if I didn't, I accepted the way things are to some degree. I'm ambitious by nature so it hasn't always been easy. I'm overweight, a lifelong struggle that many people are familiar with. Despite all of it, I DO love myself. Of course, I'd like to lose weight for health reasons but I don't have trouble looking in the mirror. I don't need to weigh a certain amount to love myself. Do you?

When I hear from those I know that don't love themselves, I ask them a question. Do you judge others as harshly as you do yourself? The answer is always NO. So, why is it that there are so many people out there that can accept the faults of those they love but can't accept their own shortcomings? You love your family unconditionally. Start with yourself.

Do you enjoy going to the theatre?

I love going to the theatre. I remember my first time. I was in NYC and we went to see "I Love My Wife" starring the Smothers brothers. I totally enjoyed myself and it made me hungry for more. Later we added going to see Broadway shows every summer, on the way back from Atlantic City.

When I moved to Toronto from Montreal 20 years ago, it meant having great theatre close at hand.

Some of my favorite plays: Les Miserables, Aspects of Love, They're Playing Our Song and Wicked. We saw the first and last of that list twice each.

I have to say that some small theatres have the best plays. They might not be as well known but that doesn't matter. I tend to go to musicals though Mousetrap was excellent and there have been some other exceptions.

Do you like going to the theatre?

Do you believe in fate?

Some people believe in fate, that no matter what we do, what is meant to happen will happen. I never believed in fate. I always felt that we are responsible for our own futures. In 2008, that changed for me. My mother was diagnosed with a benign brain tumor in 2006. She found out by accident. She got ill and went to the hospital and one of the tests showed she had one. The symptoms she had were unrelated. Anyhow they said given she was in her 80s, to wait and see. Almost immediately she had walking issues so she had to use a walker. Suddenly, about 2 years later, she rapidly declined. Over a 6 week period she went from walking with a walker to bedridden, having trouble moving her hands to eat. It was the scariest thing I ever saw. The reason I am bringing this up is that for things to turn out the way they have, many things had to fall into place:

1. She had to have been healthy enough until 2008 or close, to get the doctor she ended up with.

That doctor removed the tumor and my mother learned to walk again. Again, we are talking about a woman who had lost her ability to walk and had to go to rehab to learn to walk again. Rehab gave up on her and said even though we'd like her to walk, she most likely won't. My sister cried. I said why are you crying? Ma WILL walk again. Her surgeon said she would and I knew my mother. It was at that moment I decided that things would change.

We started having her do exercises during some of our visits. She went from doing 1.5 hours a week at rehab, to getting exercise done in the weekends as well, by us. The rehab facility admitted the extra exercise made the difference. She improved and when they let her leave, she had rehab at home. Her therapist was wonderful and had faith in her too. My mom has strength of mind like nobody else I've seen.

By early 2009 she was walking again. I couldn't be more proud. The point of this part is to tell you that doctors AREN'T always right. She had a 2nd and 3rd opinion, both of which said to NOT have the operation that gave her back her life. We trusted the 1st opinion and her "super" doctor. Sorry for going on about all this but I really admire my mother's courage.

2. The doctor she went to in 2006, the one who said to wait, retired in 2008.

3. She went to another doctor in 2006 (her initial 2nd opinion about waiting and seeing) who was away during the 6 weeks my mother's condition rapidly worsened. My sister didn't accept being told to wait until he came back, so she was referred to one of his staff.

4. The doctor that performed her surgery was the best doctor one could have. She was working in London, England and came to Toronto only a year or so before. So, if my mother couldn't have waited until 2008, she would not have had this great neurosurgeon.

So, everything fell into place and my mother is walking and happy. She does have memory loss from the brain surgery but outside of needing reminders due to that, she's doing well. She got her life back. If this wasn't fate, what is? Let's hear your stories and opinions.
