Please look at the male red-feathered jungle fowl in the photo below. It appears roaming majestically accompanied by three of its female species in the forest that was once the home of these birds' ancestors!

The birds are not domesticated chickens. They were born wild and returned recently to their old home in the Lawachhara forest of the greater Sylhet district of my country.

These wild fowls were seen in this jungle in large numbers before the gas explosion that occurred in the year 1997 in the nearby Gas field. The explosion and the subsequent fire not only killed a large number of the birds but also destroyed their habitats. The species had disappeared from the area after the explosion. They could hardly be found here in this forest even a few years back.

The red jungle fowls began to return after the forest reclaimed over the years what it once lost. Their numbers are increasing now gradually. The streams of the forest are alive now. The forest authorities consider these birds as protected species. No poaching is allowed here.

Pakra-Papia

Isn't the bird resting on a tree branch somewhere in my country look striking?
This bird is a seasonal visitor here in this part of the world and is mostly seen only during our summertime ( Monsoon) which is also its mating period.
It comes here from Africa and flies back there right before our winter.
The bird is known as Jacobin Cuckoo. Please don’t be surprised if I say that the bird drinks only rainwater. However, without rainwater, this bird can live for days.
This species is widely mentioned in ancient Indian poetry as the chātaka. In Bengali, we call it "pakra-papia”

I don’t hate my neighbor’s lights shining through his windows in the evening each night. Because his lights do not trespass onto our property in any way. By midnight, these lights routinely disappear and the tall apartment building magnificently stands majestically in the moonlight. You may look at the photo of the building posted below. I have taken the photo this evening while standing on the roof of my two-storey building. The tall coconut trees seen in the picture are standing on our property.

Happy viewing.

" You may say anything
I want the golden deer!"

We know that human wants are unlimited and the possibility of reaching that limit will never happen yet we always like to have things that are beyond our reach or do not exist. The urge to have the golden deer is one such thing that will never materialize.

The few lines of the song written by Tagore posted below on the memes may be seen and pondered upon by the readers.

Bay Leaf Tree

Photo of an evergreen shrub with aromatic leaves standing majestically in my garden!
Bay laurel is known here in my homeland as “Tejpata”.

How toll do bay leaf trees get?
The tree in my garden is now thirty feet tall. It may grow up to 40 feet. Bay leaves can also be maintained as large shrubs in containers.

What are the benefits of bay leaves?
It is a good source of Vitamin A, vitamin B6, and vitamin C. Bay leaf tea can help ease bouts of upset stomachs. The tea is also very aromatic, which can help relieve sinus pressure or a stuffy nose.

Do you want to know more about this wonderful tree? Then go to the internet please to find more details.

Thanks for stopping by.

You touch me, filling my goblet
With unearthly grace
And then, disappear --
I wonder if you remain unseen
Behind my wall of pain,
You who spark awake my sorrow!

Nature Quest

The hunter is a blue-tailed bee-eater!
The hunted is a dragonfly in the hunter's mouth!
The hunter flies away with the dragonfly in its mouth (or beak or whatever).
This slender bird also eats insects such as bees, wasps, and dragonflies while on flight.

In your infinity,
As far as my heart and mind roam
There is no misery,
No death,
No discord anywhere.

Death takes the shape of death
Misery becomes a pit of misery
when averse to you
I look at myself.

Look at the photo of the cute girl posted below.

She was born on Saturday, July 16, 2022, during a road accident that left her parent and her five-year-old sister dead on the Dhaka-Mymensingh highway. Her mother died soon after her birth on the road, knocked down by a speeding overloaded Truck.

Her mother was eight-month pregnant when the tragic accident occurred. she was on her way to the local medical clinic with her husband and for a scheduled medical test.

The Forgotten Technology

Is it possible to break an egg by putting pressure on it vertically? Have anyone of you ever tried to do so? I tried but in vain. Perhaps I am not efficient enough for doing this particular job perfectly!

However, the truth is that if you put pressure on an egg vertically, it will not break.

Don't be surprised if I say that this is a building science!

Our forefathers were aware of this building science though they never used eggs under the basement of the structures to hold their weights! They used a much larger egg-shaped material for various purposes such as holding weights, controlling temperature, and protecting the structures from earthquakes and floodwaters!

Please look at the two photos posted below:

Photo #1 reveals the basement of a Mughal-era one-story structure supported by clay pots underneath. The structure is 300 years old. It was built in our port city Chittagong. After dismantling part of the basement of the building, the clay pots were found to be supporting the whole structure, which fascinated the locals. Our government has decided to take over this 300-year-old building to preserve it as a national heritage due to its archaeological importance. The owners wanted to demolish the entire building to replace it with a multi-story apartment building. They would be duly compensated by the government.

Photo#2 reveals the size of the clay pots used under the basement of the room excavated.
