Are you wearing a mask?

I haven't been on for quite awhile so if this has already been asked, I apologize in advance. I know it is no longer the law to wear a mask but I would NOT go anywhere without one. I am amazed at how many aren't wearing masks. Some feel they can't get covid or it would be a minor inconvenience. It is the case for most BUT some vulnerable people are still having a tough time and some die. What do you think and do you wear a mask when you go out?

I have four virus innoculations. I wear my mask in most places. I continue to distance and sanitize.

Numbers are going up everywhere since people act like the pandemic is over and have relaxed their vigilance.

From what I have heard, you can get it from casual contact. My friend got it from a visitor to his house. It passed to both him and his wife. You are lucky you are in a community that it hasn't hit much. As it said on a building I went to last week for a medical, covid is NOT over. Thanks for your response.

Exactly, that is what people are doing and it's a big mistake. There is a chance there will be a more deadly variant and the government isn't protecting us. I am doing same as you Rocket. You are a wise woman. I hope you are well.

I also wear a mask out. Also had my shots. I have been around some who got COVID. And has told them to get away from me ! Even had jerks say to me I have issues wearing a mask still ! And I usually speak my mind. The jerks will hear the mouth of a trucker and will wish I wore a gag instead of a mask ! Keep healthy and safe !

Hi Shuel......nice to see you again. I have four vaccinations and if a fifth comes out in the fall I will be getting that one as well. I still wear my mask in stores when I shop and if I happen to take public transit I always wear it then as well. I have two friends who had Covid and were quite sick with it. It seems as though a lot of people are quite lackadaisical about wearing the mask. I know a few people in my neighborhood who either didn't get vaccinated or they got the first two and decided they didn't need to get anymore. They seem to have all the answers or so they think.

From the responses, I see this is a touchy subject. I will only say that I believe in freedom of choice as long as it doesn't hurt others. If someone doesn't wear a mask and gets covid and passes it on to someone who had the shots and wears a mask, I don't think it's fair to suffer for someone else's choice.

Hi Elaine, good to see you. I only wear a mask now in medical settings. I always have one with me in case I'm asked to wear it. I have had all my shots and will continue to follow the guidelines .

Of course I'm wearing a mask. I continue to monitor the numbers as well as vaccination rates by age groups all over but certainly in my city and at the county level. The numbers are nowhere near safe enough for mask removal, and it requires N95 quality protection. If you really grasp the threat and the health consequences, and that doesn't mean survival alone, it means some degree of PERMANENT damage, and that includes the brain...it would be spectacularly irresponsible not to wear a mask in areas of high infection and mediocre vaccination rates.

Very, very unwise. You are not qualified to make that judgement for yourself. Go get the vaccinations. People with that attitude have indirectly caused other deaths, to include that of children. It's frankly abusive and arrogant and stupid not to respond and do your part for mankind.

HARDLY ANYONE WEARS A MASK HERE ANYMORE EXCEPT WHERE IT IS REQUIRED SUCH AS IN HOSPITALS, PHARMACIES AND SUCH. ALSO MANY PEOPLE WEAR ONE ON PUBLIC TRANSPORT, ESPECIALLY ON BUSES AND TRAMS. THAT IS MY CASE.

Nope, never wore a mask and don't plan on it. I had the virus two years ago in March 2020, before mask mandates, and lived to tell about it. That was the last time I was sick, haven't even caught a cold since then. As the virus mutates, each strain of that virus gets weaker. Never took the jab and don't plan on it, my immune system already conquered the virus.

Besides, facts are masks don't work and carry bacteria that you breathe into your lungs. My choice is fresh air and sunshine, I refuse to live in fear, but it's your choice to wear one and get the shot.

I will only repeat what I said before. Freedom of choice is a wonderful thing as long as you don't hurt others.

An N95 mask or better has I believe a 95% protection rate versus the blue skimpy ones that I think have 5% or 10% protection. I never heard that bacteria theory Nileyears but I remove mine and put it in a baggie and reuse. I take a new one after a bit since can't reuse it that much. Most importantly I pay attention to how to put the mask on correctly. You can't stop others from doing what they do but you can be protected if you wear a GOOD mask correctly.

It's been awhile since I read about the effectiveness of the surgical masks, but I do remember that outside a sterile environment they are only good for about 30 minutes. The constant touching of the masks only add more bacteria to them. So unless your hands and area are sterilized, they are useless. You would have to toss them in the trash and put a new one on every time you went out to keep them germ free. Something to think about.

I always wear a mask out and about, I'm getting used to staying healthy around sickly people, ever since they lifted the mask mandate, you'll notice the cold and flu shelves are pretty sparse with folks thinking it's only a cold, plus being in the medical field everyone is required to wear them when visiting our facility's.

Perhaps you are talking about the cheap blue ones. I read the N95 are good for a lot longer than 30 minutes. I am very careful when I am out but yes things aren't perfect. I read that if someone wears an N95 correctly, they will be safe. I prefer to be as safe as possible.

I feel safest in medical facilities since all the ones I have been to require masks.
