DO YOU AGREE IN THE OLD SAYING, MAKE NEW FRIENDS BUT KEEP THE OLD, ONE IS SILVER THE OTHER GOLD? I even had the old adage "Make new friends but keep the old, one is silver the other gold" on my yearbook page. I firmly believed it. I have since changed my mind. I have made friends in recent years that are as near and dear to me as friends from before. They have comforted me when I have needed it and listened to me when I needed a shoulder. I have done the same for them. So all good friends are gold. What has been your experience? I had the expression "It's nice to be important but it's more important to be nice" on my yearbook page as well. That I will always believe is true. Any old expressions you want to comment on? There is a woman whom I met when we were three years old. We have quite a history, with lots of stories along the way, and we still talk on the phone occasionally. Strangely though, I learned very young to not totally trust her with anything I didn't want others to know. I hated that about her, so I guess you could say we have a love/hate relationship, but we are still "friends". There is a man, whom I have known perhaps longer than that. His older sister married my youngest uncle and they lived across the street from us. We hardly ever talk since adulthood, but we do keep in touch about family and hometown things. All through my adult life, I was too busy with family and work to really make any close friends, and that was ok. I had a few casual friends along the way. After I joined SFF and met Joe, I've met over 200 people from SFF and two other groups to which we belonged. Some are casual friends and we interact online. Some are a little closer friends, and we met frequently in person and now interact in email and telephone. And strangely, I have some casual and some closer friends that I've never met in person. But there was one who I can say was the closest friend I ever had (other than my husbands) and that person has died. Be a prism, spreading God's light and love, not a mirror reflecting the world's hatred.

At first if you don't succeed, try and try again as yesterday I tried to reach a new friend with six emails and a in house fan email to no avail. daemon error message as wrong address given can be the only cause. The balls in her court now. Imagine me topcat_tiger (lower slash after topcat_ at same rare email host site as she has. will accept any and all sexy emails at that rare.com site. hours spend so frustrating to make a new friend. just created inhouse email when hit send nothing happens. grrrrrr.. I am starting new major construction project today. master bedroom from floor to ceiling all new...weeks of work lies ahead. so you were married more than once huh?? every year my six ex mothers In law come here at my Trump purchased mansion (honest) to compare notes and see which ones daughter has the best reason for hiring a hit man to have me join Mr Rogers and Mr Whipple…. (who says im a softie???? ) oh in these sad times of indecision with my feelings dealing with strife I bottom feed, with a very deep need to meet and marry my very next ex wife To lie naked on some tropical beach with pina colada's and sweet grapes Just like her within my desired reach I monkey around and go really ape yes a week of most blissful bonding with my bride, my love and new wife then its back to dam harsh reality Of the everyday rigors of complex life Then I get a letter from her lawyer a week before our anniversary date letting me know, I have sunk so low Me joining Steve Irwin would be great That she wants half of my amassed fortune That I worked my poor ass so hard to achieve Hey buddy boy, void of all your dam joys Including my prized Corvettes set of keys So if your single and entertaining the idea of tying a near future knot don't make the mistakes, far too great For 7 days of love making so very hot!!!

I have two very good old friends one as far back as the late 60s early 70s. We lost touch when she moved to Germany. Happy to say we reconnected again five years ago. It was great seeing her again after so many years. I feel blessed with all my friends, old and new, all special in their own way.

Thanks for your response. I don't think distance matters. It is what's in your heart that counts. There are so many ways to stay in contact these days. Elaine Shuel
