ANY PREDICTIONS FOR THE FUTURE?

I was just sitting by my laptop and thinking about some of the inventions that have made our life easier. I was so excited when I got my VHS video recorder because until that point I had to miss shows while I was working. The timing was perfect for me since it wasn't that long after I started my first full time job that I bought it.

I remember having to use the oven at all times before the microwave oven. I can't say that I was alive during the time of radio over TV since there was always TV since I have been around. I do know that personal computers weren't in households or at least not in normal use until much later. Without them, I wouldn't be writing this post. My books would not have been able to be sold either without the internet, one of the most important inventions ever. Wonder what they will come up with next. Any predictions?

I keep hoping we will have like the Jetsons, with robots doing all the work at our homes, cleaning and cooking. lol One could dream. A robotic man would be interesting. They do have some lifelike women robots already and the odd man but they can't do everything YET.

Update: I googled and found a handsome one.

I will not even venture a guess. Fifty years ago, we would have laughed if anyone told us about the things we take for granted now. Twenty years ago, most people did not have many of these things, now so many do. Just look at the changes in cell phones. They are now just mini computers that can also make calls.

I predict that Global Warming will increase at an exponential rate and Human attention and resources will by necessity become focused on alleviating the problems caused by that inevitability......

Elaine I grew up in an age where we had no electricity till I was about 13. That was a huge deal. Once we had electricity we got a radio. I used to listen to the hit parade that was on all day Saturday. We got a black and white TV when I was in high school. It had rabbit ears on it so the reception was terrible and we had snow on our TV lot of the time.
I like Kofla's answer of flying cars and motorcycles......LOL!

I predict within 50 years people will have to make a living other than working at a job due to rapid advances in technology already upon us an in effect.

The transfer of wealth to the rich (non working) is evidence to which I speak.
AS population increases and jobs dwindle something has to GIVE somewhere down the line.
The poor increase----the workers become fewer & get squeezed in order to support ALL-----& the rich non working title holders draw all wealth from the world.

People who pay tax every year on all that they make & have to spend to exist support the total system (sales tax)

Rich do not spend much in comparison of what their millions in income is so they actually do not support the system as much as the worker. They bank their money & if they always REINVEST they pay ZERO tax on their capital gains------check it out. The tax system is set that they pay no tax except for what they pull out for living expense. All other millions in capital gains each year is tax free. Plus when incorporated they buy their cars through the corporation as business expense write which the average Joe can't do. Extra home OR two= business expense along with taxes upkeep utilities gardener etc. Tax write off.

A working stiff can't do that.

Very true Pat. If I said to a kid that if I missed a show back then, I missed it for good, they would think that's strange. That's progress and it's good. Cell phones are important since we can reach people when they aren't at home or even in a building of any kind. Now we couldn't live without them. Thanks for your response.

Shartaun, living without electricity is something I can't imagine. That must have been really hard. Black and white TV and those antenna, I remember from my youth. We bought our parents their first color TV for their 25th anniversary. That was exciting. Thanks for your contribution.

That was depressing. I don't know US tax rules but the rich could afford the best professional advice on how to stay rich. Oh well, that's life. Thanks for your response.

BY FAR AND AWAY, THE MOST USEFUL INVENTION MANKIND CAN POSSIBLY COME UP WITH WOULD BE AN INSTANT LIE DETECTOR MACHINE FOR EVERY HUMAN BEING ON EARTH.

IT WOULD IMMEDIATELY LIGHT UP AND BUZZ LOUDLY WHENEVER ITS WEARER SPOKE AND WAS LYING.

MANDATED BY EVERY FREE GOVERNMENT ON EARTH, ALL OF OUR DAILY LIVES EVENTS WOULD BE ONLY THE NAKED TRUTH.

THINK ABOUT IT. NO WARS, HOSTILE TAKEOVERS, LAWYERS RUNNING THE WORLD. NO GREED AND CRIME, TOTAL TRUST AND HONESTY TO CORRECT THE LONG ABUSIVE HISTORY OF MANKINDS DEADLY DEEDS.

THE ONLY DRAWBACK WOULD BE RELIGIONS HAVING A GREAT FALLOFF OF ATTENDING CHURCHGOERS.

THE JOB MARKET WOULD SOAR AS SO MANY WOULD HAVE TO BE BUSY REWRITING HISTORY TO REFLECT ONLY TRUE FACTS.

AND LASTLY DEAR SHEUL, THE STATUE OF PINOCIO WOULD UNDERGO A COMPLETE NOSE JOB RECONSTRUCTION WHILE DONALD J TRUMP'S FORKED TONGUE WOULD BE AS USELESS TO HIM AS SHOVING A POUND OF MELTED BUTTER UP A WILDCATS BEHIND IN A PHONE BOOTH.

IF ANYONE CAN COME UP ANYTHING TO SURPASS MY IDEA, I WILL BOW TO THEN AND THATS THE DANG TRUTH!

Most of what Shartaun said I remember those times too. It didn't take much to make us happy, and we appreciated every little treat.

I was married by the time we got our first coloured TV, the excitement was unreal. I remember our first automatic washing mashine, what a God send. I used to sit and watch as it went to work LOl.

I can't even begin to imagine what the future may bring. Peace and contentment in the world would be a good start.

I saw a post on FB a few weeks ago about a truly lifelike robotic pet dog. I watched the accompanying video and it really was convincing! Recently I read that some dementia care facilities are using these to help soothe their patients. I can say with 100% certainty that if these had been available during my mother's battle with Alzheimer's I definitely would have bought her one!

A day without dance is .... just kidding. I have no idea!

This is an interesting blog. I have made many first part assemblies & gizmos for would be inventors & companies. With the serious ones a non disclosure agreement was necessary before discussing their product.
There are some very ingenuous people out there. Then there are some with a lot of money , big ideas & NOT a lick of sense. LOLOL.
But if they had money and wanted it made why should I say NO ? LOL
One of the better designed products that sold well got knocked off by the Chinese within 2 years. (boat seat)

I don't fall for everything the new technology has in stock, e.g. my smartphone serves me only to make calls and receive calls, it's not my toy loaded with apps.
I am also not looking forward to a "smart house", open doors with a key. What if there is a blackout and everything fails - you cannot get in and cannot get out? LOL
I also don't add to the wealth of Amazon by ordering everything online through them. I am sure that I don't want an Alexa in my home.
What will the near and far future be like? We are all supposed to have a chip under the skin with our ID, health records, financial activities and more....... updates will be made automatically....... And the final dream is the creation of Transhumanism.

I could imagine how hard things were before washing machines. We have come a long way. World peace is a wonderful thought but I doubt that will ever happen. There are too many people who love to fight. Some are on this site. lol Sorry I couldn't resist.

I think the greatest inventions will be medical. I hope they can finally get rid of the major diseases so people can live longer and healthier.

Thanks for your response. It's always great to hear from you, Maura.

I would be curious to see that video. If it has the benefits of a dog like companionship and feelings of being unconditionally loved and no vets or dog walking needed, I may get one. Thanks for your response.

Hopefully that will keep others coming back and staying. I always intend to stay but then things get in the way. Thanks for your reply, Abelle.

Myseek, I don't blame you for feeling the way you do. My Alexa chooses when to listen to me and sometimes she gets involved in conversations when I don't even say her name. Very odd. That said, I do love gadgets and love controlling the lights with my commands (when Alexa CHOOSES to listen). I am very interested in what new inventions will come up.

I am not sure what a "smart house" would involve but if there is no manual way to override things if there is a blackout, count me out. Thanks for your input.
