COMMENTOPHOBIA - FEAR OF MAKING COMMENTS ON POSTS No, to my knowledge, commentophobia is not a real word. I just read a post and wanted to write a comment. However, I learned from when I first came on here and did that, it can get me in trouble. I just read Leaf's post and he accused Maisie of calling fat people evil. I read it and I could tell she wasn't really doing that. Do I dare voice my opinion and make others feel that I am pro Maisie and therefore against them, depending on which side of the fence they are on? I am not left or right. I am fully centered. I have no sides and I don't want to have to choose a side. I may agree with Maisie on this issue and be totally against what she said on other issues. Sometimes I look at the blogs and have to remind myself that these are seniors fighting and hurling insults back and forth. Other times I feel like I am back in high school and there are cliques. Shouldn't one be free to make comments without fear of getting verbally attacked? I wish I felt that I could so on here. I do risk it sometimes but not without some stress about a backlash for doing so. For those celebrating Easter, have a great holiday weekend!!! Elaine Shuel |

Thanks Liszt. I do my best but at an expense. Much of the time I don't offer things that could add to a good debate or conversation for the very reason mentioned. I would love to be able to discuss some of the material brought up here without it just becoming a war of words or getting the same old single minded responses from the people who present the same stale arguments almost word for word. I do dream of a world where we could really share all our thoughts but that seems to be the academia of our era showing through. Spiritwoman ^i^

Hi Elaine: I think a lot of people would like to respond to blogs but they also have Commentophobia. I hope you can get over it soon and tell us what you think. I stopped blogging myself due to all the insults but just to feel like part of the group I throw in my two cents now and then regardless of whose blog it is.

Masie, I have read some of the insults being flung and I agree that insulting someone's hair or health or any other personal attacks, shouldn't be tolerated on this or any site. These blogs should be to give our opinions on topics. They should be a healthy and calm exchange of ideas. At least that was my perception of blogging prior to blogging on SFF. It really is rather sad that it has become so nasty. Elaine Shuel

This wasn't about Leaf. It happened to be Leaf's blog post I read but I have nothing against Leaf or anyone else. Thanks for your comment, RosesLady. Elaine Shuel

I heard about that, Liszt. I do find it hard to believe, but enough people told me, so it must be true. I find that extremely shocking and disappointing. Thanks. Elaine Shuel

I am certainly afraid to comment lest I get taken to be a Nazi symp.

Thanks TxJW2. I am trying my best to stay out of things, but there are times, I do voice my opinion. Elaine Shuel

There is something wrong about saying a statement like "you are a diseased old man who will die soon" to anyone with an illness, under any circumstances, Maisie. The fighting on this site gets very vicious from both sides. It isn't one sided or the fights would cease. I would make the suggestion that all sides should stop their bickering and start over with a fresh slate. Forget about all back history and start from scratch. Is that possible or just a pipe dream? Thanks very much, Hiram. I think the problem is that with online communication, it is easier to have misunderstandings. It is unfortunate that it is affecting your blogging. Thank you for making a comment on my blog. Elaine Shuel
