ARE YOU A POSITIVE THINKER?

They say that being positive can make good things happen. Do you believe that? Are you a positive thinker? I would like to say I am but truthfully, I have had too many good things go sour. I think when I was younger, I was more optimistic.

I try to think positive most of the time. But when old negative thoughts creep in ,sometimes they are hard to ignore.

I know what you mean, Pat. I talk to someone and whenever I say anything, he plays devil's advocate and turns everything negative. If not for the fact that he has a big heart, I wouldn't talk to him. Thanks for your comment.

Facing difficult situations does toughen people up. It also teaches you what you learned. There is no point in running from your troubles as they will still be there. Thanks for your comment, MySeek.

I am a very positive person. You might want to read a recent blog I wrote about hope and change for depth on this. Being positive is the first order of business that prepares you for what feels negative, even though it is easy to characterize something as negative when it is really encouragement to choose the alternative instead. To be negative is to close one's mind to the world around us, the roll of faith, righteous living that is purposeful, or willing ignorance rather than the engagement with something that offers worth. Myseek touches on something important...negative people struggle to remain focused and they are susceptible to illness, because it is an illness. We are not created to be negative, we are instinctively given the will to survive. You don't do that by willingly choosing to withdraw.
Thanks for your candid response, Leaf. I will try to find your recent blog about the subject.

Loved your answer, ranger, thank you. "Thinking positive will get you nothing without positive actions", is an expression I will try to remember.

I'd say I am more of an accepting but positive thinker. I'm positive in that I look for the best in people and situations and build on that but accepting in the fact that some people let the negative (self destructive and or harmful) reign and that " bad" things do happen no matter what. With that in mind I go through life doing my best to take advantage and enjoy things that go right and the people who acknowledge their short comings and do their best to be kind, helpful , loving people. The rest I walk away from and dismiss as those things I can not control. My favorite comment has become "God did not consult me when s/he created the Universe." Sometimes I add "and that is probably a good thing becasue I do not know everything."

It might be because most of us want to think positively, but then life gets in the way. Thanks for sharing your viewpoint, Lulu.

I go along with what Carolyn wrote.

I'm generally a very positive person!

When I have to make decisions, I usually weigh the pros and cons, then let it sit for awhile.

I don't make major decisions quickly.

That's wise, rocket. It is better to sit and think about things than make rash decisions. Thanks for your comment.

Elaine human nature tends to think negative depending on what it is. Sometimes when people don't have enough going on in their life then they generally find things to complain about. Guess it is hard to be positive when in their eyes everything is negative. I think I am half and half. If one has health issues then I think it would be hard to think positive about it. I guess it is human nature to think the worst possible scenario.

Yes, I agree with you, Shartaun03. One could be a positive thinker regarding certain aspects of their lives but not other parts. Thanks for your comment.

I'm a bit of a cynic, but very optimistic about my own circumstances.

My life has been easy, and I don't expect that to change barring some major tragedy.

You've been very lucky, rentier. That does make it easier to have a positive outlook. Thanks for your comment.
