WHAT WAS SHE THINKING? I read this article and I was disgusted. What about you? Here it is: "A Bulgarian tourist has been blamed for killing a swan when she dragged it out of a Macedonian lake so that she could take a picture with it. The unidentified woman is seen smiling in photos, tugging the distressed white swan by its wing, before leaving it on the shoreline of Lake Ohrid to die, according to Macedonian International News Agency. She reportedly stepped into the lake and dragged the swan out, shocking onlookers from her large tourist group. According to the witnesses, the swan was peaceful and did not react to the woman approaching it, as they are use to the presence of tourists. She then took a picture and left the swan, who “remained motionless on the beach after the encounter” and died later on, according to MINA. A similar incident happened just last month when a group of tourists in Argentina pulled an endangered baby dolphin out of the ocean to take seflies. The animal ending up dying causing a global outrage." Elaine Shuel |

That is appalling. She's dragging the poor swan by its wing and doesn't even care if she's breaking the wing or causing the swan stress. All so she can take a pic? That is so sad. Makes me hate people.

I didn't think swans let you get that close. We have a lagoon here in Vancouver where there are a lot of swans. Maybe she tranquilized the swan first. It is the most ridiculous story I have ever heard. She should be punished for doing that.

What a silly ignorant idiot. Too bad the swan didn't give her a good bite.

Slightly off the topic, but animals used in movies are extremely well protected from harm. The American Humane Society [or their equivalent] are always involved to ensure the safety of the animals used. In a recent popular movie, The Revenant, the close up bear scenes were done with a man in a bear costume. Thank goodness for the modern technologies which are used in filming!

Yes, and that would have made for a happier story, sad to say. She would have deserved that. Thanks Rubi. Elaine Shuel

Thanks for your candid answer, Roxy. Hunting is a "sport" I never understood. To me it isn't a form of entertainment to kill animals. I don't want this blog to be about that but I do agree with you on that subject. Elaine Shuel

Good point, Pat. It seems they just stood and watched in horror. Thanks for your comment. Elaine Shuel

It is amazing to see the sympathy for the swan which was killed and I agree it is an appalling act. I wish we could see the same outrage for unborn babies killed in late-term abortions. Don't you? Fossil Elaine Shuel

Yes, someone should have stepped in and stopped that woman. Thanks ET. Elaine Shuel

I can't say I hate her since I don't know her. I can say what she did is very disgusting and there should be a legal recourse so others won't get the same idea. Thanks _JKH54. Elaine Shuel
