    Quoting Rocketship:
Kind of off topic, but I wanted to comment of 24 Sussex.

You're right that building a brand new residence from the bottom up would be much less expensive. Unfortunately, some believe and want to continue with 'tradition'... sighhhh.

As most here know, renovating is full of surprises and always, on this scale, much more expensive. None of the repairs had been done as needed over the years and it's a major undertaking now.

Thanks for your feedback regarding renovating 24 Sussex Drive, Rocket. Tradition can be quite costly, it seems. Perhaps they should put it to a vote. I would vote for a cheaper house.

Hi Elaine, nice to see you.
Some months ago, this year, I got homesick, thinking of my hometown. I wrote a blog about it. The last time I went, many years ago, the house we lived in was the same, at least outside. Some days ago, my goddaughter went to my hometown and I asked her to take a picture of it and some of my close neighbors. There are some small stores in the house we lived in, so it has no windows, just gates. Many memories came to my mind and I felt a bit sad...
Nice to see you too, Lucy. It's funny but I didn't realize so many people would be saddened by seeing their childhood homes. In some cases like Joe, the house is no longer standing and I can see how that could make someone sad but I am surprised that others have that same feeling.

Oh well, yes it's true that some people no longer have their old home still standing. That is unfortunate. Thanks for your comment, Ranger.
