WHO WAS YOUR FAVORITE HOLLYWOOD PIN UP GIRL? Hollywood Pin Up Girls: The term pin up girl was first used in the early 1940's. The now famous pin up girl images were originally published in magazines, newspapers, calendars and postcards. As they became more popular, pin up girl posters such as the one of Betty Grable were mass produced. This famous print of Betty Grable was taken in 1943 by Frank Powolny. 5 million copies of this print were distributed to GI's during WWII. Picture 1: Ava Gardner Pic 2: Betty Davis Pic 3: Jane Russell Pic 4: Jean Harlow PIc 5: Marilyn Monroe (I wouldn't have recognized her in this picture) Pic 6: Betty Grable Elaine Shuel |

Two actresses who come to mind [same era] I found respect worthy are Katherine Hepburn and Ingrid Bergman. Not a fan of pin-ups [either sex]..

I don't think I have a favorite. I think Marilyn Monroe has survives public attention the longest, perhaps because she also, has an interesting story with mystery that endures because she left us so soon and with many questions. Spiritwoman ^i^

I don't have a favorite here. You should take a look at Veronica Lake, I'm not sure if she would be considered a Pin Up Girl, but she was a very beautiful lady.

Yes he does, Pat. Thanks for telling me about Betty Davis's pic missing. You know SFF. I just put it back on. I also noticed I forgot to put up Betty Grable's photo so it's now on too. Thanks for your helpful comment. Elaine Shuel

Hi Elaine: Not sure if she classifies as a pin-up girl, but I think Hedy Lamarr was the most beautiful actress. I read her huge biography recently and she invented some kind of revolutionary radar device used in WW2 to track Nazi submarines.

I saw only 4 now too. SFF does like playing games with members. I put the missing 2 back. We'll see if they stay on. Your father certainly was resourceful. Thanks for sharing that, LakeWalker. Elaine Shuel

Great choice. She's quite a beauty and I love that she's a redhead too. Thanks for your comment, _JKH54. Elaine Shuel

That explains it. I haven't watched any bios of Marilyn or any Playboy or Hef documentaries. I'm sure you enjoyed "reading" Penthouse. Elaine Shuel
