ONCE IS NOT ENOUGH - OR IS IT? What have you done that you felt that once WASN'T enough? What about things that you wouldn't repeat? I was different before meeting my boyfriend a little over 9 years ago. I let men treat me in ways that I wouldn't let them today. My confidence is higher and my respect for myself has increased. I'm not the same person I was then. So, that's what I WOULDN'T repeat. What I would do again is go back to Italy. I can't go soon but I do hope to have a chance to go back there again one day. I agree with you about Italy. My wife lived in Italy for thirty years prior to our marriage. I have been to Italy many times in the intervening years since we met. Had it not been for her, I doubt that I would have traveled as much as we have since we met. I think that we all have experienced life in educative ways. Some of those lessons were painful. For me, those were the things that "once was enough". Some of the more pleasurable experiences bear repeating.  Elaine Shuel

I would love to take one more trip back home to the UK. We went over a couple of years ago for a couple of weeks. But one more visit would put the icing on the cake. Alfie...

It's sometimes hard to see the big picture, when we make certain decisions. They can and do affect our whole life. The truth is, who knows what would have happened if you gave him a second chance. He might have done whatever he did again. You seem happy with Jim so hopefully things turned out the way they were meant to. Thanks for your candid answer, ET. Elaine Shuel

Thanks Mary Ann. Italy does seem like a popular choice. That doesn't surprise me, given how beautiful it is. I've never been to Asia but if I would travel there, Japan would be my first choice. I love electronics and my understanding is they are tops in that field. Unfortunately, Asia would require a very long plane trip. I would need to muster up my courage for that one. It would also cost a fortune. The airplane alone is quite expensive from Toronto. In life, we all have things that we regret, at least most of us do, to some degree. We have a choice to either dwell on all our mistakes or to try to do better. I prefer to focus on the latter option. Thanks for your response. I appreciate ti. Elaine Shuel

It must have hurt a great deal to lose your husband, Pat. I can understand why you would have hesitated to go through any such ordeal again. It's not comparable but it reminds me of the pain I felt when my first boyfriend and I broke up. I thought he was my one and only and I didn't want to get hurt again. However, it boils down to that when we love someone, we do take risks of getting hurt by a break up or death. Hopefully the risk is worth it and that's where Joe came in and for me, my boyfriend. I'm glad you have Joe and that I have Corey. We're both very fortunate.  It's nice to take trips and to learn where we'd like to go again and places we'd rather avoid. Elaine Shuel
