THERE ARE "RULES" THAT WERE KEPT FROM ME - SO I WILL NO LONGER PRE-SCREEN COMMENTS I have done everything I could to avoid upsetting any members. I wrote a post about blog etiquette, asking about the "rules'. Pretty much everyone said there are no rules. It seems members haven't been entirely upfront with me. On my post about the new SFF glitch I've been having, members wrote that they don't screen messages, one was highly suspicious of those that do, and one refuses to make further comments because of my screening. My question is WHY didn't anyone tell me it bothers them, when I asked about the "rules' here? I know I have the right to do it but if it upsets people, I would have taken that into consideration. Anyhow I won't be pre-screening comments anymore, unless something weird happens. That will apply to my new posts as I'm not going back to change the options on my old ones. Incidentally, I don't get how I'll know which comments need replying to. I can look back but it can get confusing. That explains why some of my comments were never replied to. So tell me, is there anything else I need to know so I am not accidentally offending anyone? PLEASE tell me as I don't read minds. Thank you. Elaine Shuel |

Boogie, I have never censored any replies. In fact, to my knowledge, one can't edit comments. You are always free to respond or not to comment, of course. I just didn't realize some members were upset that I screen comments. I only did that so if someone is insulting to others, I can delete the comment. Thanks for your reply. Elaine Shuel

There really aren't rules. There will always be those who will be unhappy about things that aren't of any real consequence. Take care of one thing and someone will find another. If people can't respect your choices and boundaries it's their issue. Never feel the need to apologize. Spiritwoman ^i^

Hi Elaine: Thanks for not screening replies anymore. To be honest I hated that and felt like I was being censored about what I was allowed to say. As far as I know no-one else screens their replies.

Elaine You do what's comfortable for you-- I like reviewing on some of my blogs -- not all -- I don't at all consider it sensoring-- it's protecting my space --just enjoy yourself on here !! Elaine Shuel

Welcome to my blog, Knxldy. I am glad you wrote because there are definitely some issues I need to clarify. First of all, I am not saying I don't have enough time to answer comments. I meant that I didn't think I'd know which comments are new if I didn't pre-screen them. I didn't realize that I could still see which are new. Though this way, I can miss a comment because my routine has been accept and reply. Also, I don't get what you are saying about censoring because we only can delete comments. That could be done even if you don't pre-screen. I've seen comments get deleted after they went up. Again, I haven't deleted any comments except when I first joined and got insulted for writing erotica. Oh wait, I did delete Rentier1's swastika comment. I forgot about that. I was advised it's best to keep comments that offend me up so I have since that time. Regarding my blogs being too personal, I have one rule. I don't ask anything that I wouldn't answer myself. It is my goal to get to know other members so we could really be friends. Some of my posts are not regarding anything personal but I hope you understand why I ask those questions. Anyhow, I am no longer going to pre-screen my blogs, unless something very odd happens. I hope I've addressed all your concerns. Thanks so much for telling me how you feel. Why do you feel that you have to whistle to everyone else's tune?? In this world, you know that you can never, ever please everyone! **If you want to see the comments posted before they are published, do so! We know that you cannot 'censor' portions of a person's comment. You can only delete the whole comment if you wish to do that. Do what YOU want to do!!!!!!

Maisie, I didn't pre-screen to delete comments. I only deleted comments when I was insulted for writing erotica, by a couple or few members, after I first blogged. Since then, I only deleted Rentier1's comment which I regretted afterwards. After that, I haven't deleted any comments and had no intention of deleting anything. Elaine Shuel

Carolina, I appreciate your comment but for me, it isn't doing what I'm told. If I felt strongly about something, I would stand my ground. I see no reason to make waves if there is something I can easily do to satisfy everyone without hurting myself. When I first joined, I felt I had to pre-screen and actually assumed most did. Since that time, I just automatically put that option, not realizing it offended so many. I see no reason to annoy people to make a point that I have the right to pre-screen. I know I have that right since SFF gives it to everyone. I will now opt to not use it. For the record, those who know me well, are fully aware that nobody pushes me around. The issues I've had haven't been about official rules. One member felt that if you disagree with something someone says on their blog, you shouldn't address it. I asked and most members felt that member is wrong. I didn't want to do something that was considered offensive so I asked about blog etiquette on a previous post. Elaine Shuel

Hi Elaine!! Your viewing my comments beforehand never bothered me, just to let you know that upfront! They're your blogs, you have a right to do whatever you please. Personally, I don't screen comments, but then again, I don't write the same kind of blogs as you, lol, they aren't quite as serious as yours.

Elaine...my advice to you is to do what you want. You will never please everyone anyway and in the meantime you will just stress yourself out with all these comments trying to sort through them all. You are who you are and you shouldn't change just because not everyone agrees with you. You are a good person and you should just be true to yourself.

I don't really understand what you meant about pre-screening making it that their comment might not make sense. Why would that affect their comment making sense? Please clarify. I came now to see if there were new messages. There is a comment made that I didn't see before. It is showing up before the response I last gave. When I accept comments first and then respond, it just makes me keep track of things better. I know many don't do it that way, but I've seen the odd time where someone said they're sorry but they didn't spot the person's comment sooner. It is harder to spot, in my opinion. I don't delete comments from people I don't like. I don't delete at all, except what I already said happened. I do see your point about blocking instead but I don't have any bloggers blocked. I may in the future, but I don't love the idea. Elaine Shuel

What happened to knxldy's comments? They disappeared. Does that mean she deleted them? I know I didn't. I've never seen that happen before. Without me pre-screening, does that mean someone can delete messages they wrote? Elaine Shuel

I do appreciate your support, _JKH54, but I don't feel under attack. I was bothered that nobody told me they dislike members pre-screening comments. I guess better late than never, to find out how members feel about things. As far as being a "good guy", I can only be myself. For better or worse, I am what I am. Thanks for your comment.
