WHERE DO YOU LIVE?

I live in a suburb of Toronto, Canada. I know where some of you live, but some of you I have no idea. I'd be curious to know where everyone is from AND how widespread the membership is. Feel free to add anything about where you call home. In fact, it would be great if you listed some attractions to see where you live. In Toronto, we have great theatre. There is the CN Tower and the Toronto Zoo. We have Casa Loma which is an old castle, that coincidentally my boyfriend's grandfather worked on. We have the AGO, the Art Gallery of Ontario.

Tell us where you live and what one can see if they visit.

UPDATE:

I just thought about it during dinner and had what I hope is a great idea. How about continuing this thread on your own blog?. Please answer here, but to be able to show pictures, put up your own post. Call it WHERE DO YOU LIVE? and then put the answer. Ex: WHERE DO YOU LIVE? TORONTO in my case. Please include pictures so others can get a better idea of what it's like to live there. It's too bad that standard members can't post pictures in comments, but since they can't, this would be the next best thing. I think this might be fun. At least I hope so. I'm proud to be a Canadian and I'm sure you're proud of where you're from.

Ft. Worth, Texas!! We have the Stockyards, guess that's why they call Ft. Worth Cowtown. Sundance Square, Ft. Worth Botanic Gardens, Water Gardens, Ft. Worth Zoo, and the Will Rogers Memorial Center just to name a few.

Alfie and I live in Milledgeville, Georgia. It was the Capitol of Georgia until after the Civil War and moved to Atlanta. 4 Governors were in residence here.

There is still the Old Capitol Museum and the Old Governor's Mansion, still wonderfully kept as it was originally. The Old Governor's Mansion is a pinky shade as it may have been originally. They used to use red clay (lots of that here!) in paint for the colors.

Most of the original government buildings are still here but used different than what they were. Georgia College & State University is in a lot of the old buildings.

Central State Mental Hospital is still here but no longer a mental institution. One building has several women that are unable to be moved to other facilities in the state. Many buildings are used for other things as they are bought and refurbished.

Central State was the largest mental facility in the United States and the second largest in the world.

This is a gorgeous city! Lots of original buildings, the downtown has been refurbished and used for other businesses.

As the saying goes, I am not from here (pronounced heah) but got here as fast as I could. Yes, I am a Yankee.

I have learned the difference in you (1 person), y'all ( 2 or 3 people) and all y'all...more than 3.

I never heard of all y'all. Interesting, Ann. Thanks for all that information on Georgia. I hope you put up a post about it, as I suggested. It sounds like it would be a lovely place to visit.

Thanks Nileyears. I just updated this post. I hope you put up WHERE DO YOU LIVE? TEXAS. I'd like to get a glimpse of what life in Fort Worth would be like.

Hi Shuel: I'm not far from Toronto in St. Catharines. Not much happening here but there are about ten Tim Hortons within walking distance from anyone's house. lol

p.s. Just in case you didn't know, if you let your cursor hover over anyone's pic you will see their mini profile showing where they live

Chicago is crowded so being in the middle of nowhere sounds relaxing. There is so much traffic in large cities like Toronto. Thanks Pat.

Thanks bijou, I didn't realize that. I've never been to St. Catharines but of course, I've heard of it. Where would we be without a Tim Hortons nearby?

Great pictures Elaine. We live in a small private housing estate just about a mile and a half from Dublin City Centre. We have the beautiful and very big Phoenix Park, which contains Dublin Zoo, just five minutes walk away. Just inside the entrance to the park is the Garda/Police Headquarters and the Army HQ is also inside the park's perimeters not far from that. Twenty minutes' walk or so from our house we have Áras an Uachtarián which is where our President's live during their terms in office. A little further into the park on we have the residence of the US Ambassador. Down the road from us five minutes or so is the original Guinness Brewery where good old Arthur began making the world famous black stuff which I hate the taste of but hubby is quite fond of it but only when it comes on draught and not from cans or bottles.

I loved reading all that Maura, thank you. Now if only someone would do as I requested. I'd love to see a blog called "Where do you live?" Ireland and see lovely pictures of the area. Hint, hint.

An ex boyfriend used to drink Guinness beer. It's the only beer he drank. It must be good but I'm no judge. I dislike the taste of any beer.

As most of you know I live on the west coast in Vancouver, BC. This is a great city to live in which is very vibrant with all of our ethnic groups and multiculturalism. We are home to The Vancouver Canucks (hockey), BC Lions (CF, the Whitecaps (soccer) and many other sports group. This year we will be one of the cities of Canada hosting the women's FIFA. We hosted the 2010 winter Olympics which was a great time. In 1986 we hosted Expo86. These are just a few events that my great city Vancouver has hosted. We have lovely beaches of which English Bay is right at my door step. Washington State is about a 1 hours drive from where I live. Y'all come now!

I see SFF was playing little tricks on my post. BC Lions is our football team (Canadian Football League).

Vancouver is gorgeous, Shartaun03, as you know. I was there a lifetime ago and I took pictures that looked like postcards. If it was during the digital age, I would have posted some here. My sister went there for Expo86 and had a great time. Thank so much for your comment. Any chance, you would put up a post of Vancouver, as per my request?

Elaine I did go out on the web to look for some pictures of Vancouver that I thought readers here in blog land would enjoy looking at. I couldn't make up my mind which ones to save. But I will give it more thought.

Great idea, Elaine. Good thing you live in Toronto. Canada is one of the countries I'd have liked to visit.

I'm from Honduras, Central America. A magazine of tourism says: "Honduras, One small Country, Three Wide Worlds". Our first world is the world of Tropical Nature. The second is the world of the Maya civilization. And the third world is the world of Caribbean Honduras.
Maybe one of these days I'll post something about this small country.
