WHAT'S YOUR FAVORITE GIFT?

I have seen this question asked on game shows, and I always yelled back at the TV. Jewellery!!! Every man alive should know that women love jewellery over everything else OR do they??? I have come to realize that isn't always the case.

My boyfriend gave me a beautiful figurine that he knew I liked. It's called Soul Mates and it's lovely. The guy is holding the woman's hand and she's a redhead. Ok, I felt it was made for us. He has given me some wonderful jewellery over the years but this one is special. I have it on my bureau and lie in bed at night and look at it and smile. Can I wear it around my neck or on my finger or wrist? No. Yet it gives me pleasure to know he felt we are soul mates and that he loves me.

What's your favorite gift?

Update: There have been answers like unconditional love and enjoying life. I agree that those are great responses. However, I think men need to know what women actually want as far as physical gifts. For that matter, I'd like to hear from men too. What gift would be your top choice from a woman?

The Lang calendar was a favorite gift of EarthyTaurus. I put up a couple of pictures of Lang calendars, so others can see what a Lang calendar looks like. They vary.

Hello Elaine,

My favorites gift that I have is my Mini Ipad. My daughter Heriza bought for me when she visited us here in the US in Dec. 2013.

It's my favorite because I can call and see them in facetime whenever I feel homesick. The best gift ever.

I have more favorite gifts but that's the best.

Nice blog!

I have been given some beautiful things over the years from family, friends and ex-boyfriends. One of the most favorite gifts is a sapphire ring with small diamonds surrounding it. I have had it for almost 40 years now. I also have a turquoise ring that was given to me by the same person. I am very sentimental and these gifts have always meant a lot to me. I also have a link gold bracelet and turquoise bracelet that was given to me as well. I have no idea who I will gift these to down the road.

Shartaun03, I think you're my twin from another mother. My boyfriend gave me my dream ring, a gorgeous sapphire ring with diamonds around it. He knew I loved Princess Diana's ring and that I wanted one like it. It may cost a million dollars less but I love it.

I wouldn't worry who you are going to give your lovely items to. Just enjoy the things you love. Thanks for your comment.

Shortly after mobile phones first came out all of the family had them. My youngest son insisted on buying me one for Christmas. I told him he was throwing his money away because there was no way I was ever going to use It. He went ahead and bought it anyway. Once I got the hang of it of course I loved it. My kindle reader is another gift that I love.

I enjoyed reading your comment, Pat. I laughed at the part about that pen and pencil set. I'm sure he thought you'd love it.

Gifts from your children are precious, I'm sure. My favorite part of your reply was that your favorite gift, you bought for yourself. That's terrific!!! In fact, that was a mistake I made and regret. I once saw earrings I wanted. Instead of buying it, I said it to my boyfriend for an upcoming occasion. He said sure. He never bought it since he forgot all about it, and by the time I tried to get it, it was already gone. I even contacted the store's head office but it couldn't be located. I learned if you really want something, get it yourself.

Thanks so much, Pat, for your wise words.

A dear friend gave me a diamond necklace in the shape of a Palm Tree after caring for her Uncle who passed from Cancer -- he lived near Palm Springs-- his niece Diane also died of cancer in 2012 so this gift is a special remembrance of both of them
Sorry for the history of the necklace but I'm sure you treasure the gift. Thanks for sharing that, Diane.

Nice of your son to care enough to buy you a cell phone, Maura. I didn't think I needed one either, but it's great to be able to reach people when they're out. Glad you're enjoying your gifts.

To tell the truth Elaine, I never liked receiving gifts, but there is one gift I'll always cherish and it was a leather checkbook cover, carved into it was a cowgirl riding her horse. Okay, if you are wondering why it's so special to me, here goes. It was given to me by my fiancee, he said the carving on the leather reminded him of me. He died about 6 months after he gave it to me. He was in the hospital for a month after he was hit by a drunk driver while on duty, he was a Ft Worth police officer. My life hasn't been the same since, his death was not expected, he was doing so well until a blood clot hit his heart and broke mine.

OMG, I'm so sorry, Nileyears. That's horrible. There are no words that one could say to make it better. I am sure that the cover is very precious to you. I'm sorry if my post brought you any pain.

Elaine I Googled the Lang calendar. Amazon also sells them. They have lots of choices. Maybe I will order one for next year. I have a calendar hanging on the refrigerator that I keep track of appointments and other important things that I need to remember. In a previous job I had prior to the one I retired from I was the spokes person for keeping track of everyone's birthday in the office. I would let everyone know when a birthday was coming up and they had the option of wishing that person a happy birthday or even giving them a card.

It's alright Elaine, no need to be sorry, I have a lot of good memories of him as well. He was my soul mate and I'll see him again someday.
