My 2014 European Trip - Installment #6

I thought there'd be nothing left to show but..... there are!!!

Have a wonderful weekend!!!

Pic 1: The National Library Of Greece in Athens.

Pic 2: Basilica of Santa Croce in Florence, Italy.

A Jewish architect Niccolo Matas from Ancona, designed the church's 19th-century neo-Gothic facade, working a prominent Star of David into the composition. Matas had wanted to be buried with his peers but because he was Jewish, he was buried under the porch and not within the walls.

Pic 3: View of the Acropolis from the new Acropolis Museum in Athens.

Pics 4 and 5: Taken from our cruise ship

Pic 6: View of Salerno, Italy that we passed during our bus tour.

Pic 7: View from the Ponte Vecchio in Florence.

Pic 8: Pizza in Florence. Pizza in Italy doesn't have the toppings that we have in Canada and the US. The Margherita is their famous one. It just has cheese and tomato sauce and basil. It's simple but tasty.

Pic 9 and 10: The ruins of Pompeii. The once thriving city got destroyed by the eruption of Mount Vesuvius in 79 AD. It was hard walking at certain areas of the ruins.

Do you mean Greece or Italy, Pat? Thanks for your comment.

Thanks for sharing your great pictures, Elaine. I haven't been to Greece, unfortunately (even though I spent 4 years in Europe). However, I have been to Italy more than once, lovely country!!

Italy is gorgeous. That was my favorite country, frenchsalsa2. Mykonos was beautiful too. Hopefully you'll go there one day. Thanks for your comment.

To me, there's nothing quite like Venice, Pat. Both Italy and Greece are beautiful but Italy was by far my favorite. That said, I wouldn't mind going back to Mykonos and they do have other islands in Greece that I'm sure are wonderful to visit.

Thanks RosesLady. The weather held up for the most part except London. No great surprise about that, but even there we had only a bit of rain but very little sunshine.

I posted pictures of Italy on some of my other vacation posts too. Perhaps you are thinking of your comments on one of them, Betty.

Have a great weekend!!!
