Ogallala, Nebraska - Here I come I have a two-week break between my friend's chemo sessions. Coincidentally, I met a woman online who recently retired and bought an R.V. We decided to meet in Ogallala, Nebraska where we hope to have a few days of fun on the beaches of Lake McConaughy. She's been camping for years in a trailer and the 24 foot R.V. is a major upgrade for her. I'm enjoying the Zen-ness of the plains of Colorado as I make my way north. I can recommend Picture Canyon north of Campo and Bonny Reservoir State Park (Foster Cove....N Entrance)north of Burlington, Colorado. The shower at Bonny Reservoir is barely warm. (coin-operated-quarters only)but bathroom was VERY clean. For those who might be interested in boondocking, there's some open land about 10 miles N of Bonny Lake. About 300 ft N of mile-marker 224 on the east side of highway 387 is a dirt road into the oil/gas fields. It pretty small, but plenty big enough for me.....in my 1999 Chevy Metro hatchback. See photos on Flickr under Wahnfried Am Rio Grande. I return to Albuquerque on the 14th of June to help friend through her final chemo session. |
