It seems 13 republican congressmen are getting brow beaten for not going along with party lines..

The mindsets of these folks is astounding..
First Pelosi who has NEVER put bill to vote that hasn't passed.
Second is the primary reason Progressive didn't want the bill passed
And Third that the Republican Congress is made up of stupid people and really, really stupid people.

First Pelosi has to realize the benefits of putting bills forth that will not pass.
That the negative vote has greater political value than the positive..

Second.. Progressive did not want the bills separated.. Did not want a partial passing.....They would have preferred the bill didn't pass.. They were counting on The Republican obstruction, and giving them a little help. The idea behind that was that Reconciliation is a must to pass the entire bill. Progressive believed they had more power if the infrastructure bill was incorporated into the entire for reconciliation. this bill being passed loses some of their leverage for Reconciliation.

Over two months of waiting and news cycles about Democrats obstructing this bill....
My brother who is right wing.. asked me why the Democrats wont' pass the bill.
I told him the Democrats weren't holding it up...the Republican were... he thought I was crazy..I said look, there were 30 something progressive who said they wouldn't vote for it, and held it up.. I told him, what you're forgetting is there is not 30 something Republican in Congress that would vote for it.. to cancel them out..
He thought I was wrong and Republicans wanted to pass it.

Whether this bill went up or down.. he now knows the truth.

Well I see like you do here. I also believe that this congress does indeed have many, really, really stupid people in it. Did you notice that Chuck Schumer has bee invisible for at least 2 weeks? Not sure what he's up to but they better be thinking about that debt limit. I would love, love, love to see Schumer cut a deal with Sinema and strip out the paid family leave, pass the reconciliation bill by Thanksgiving caving to Manchin and then, tack on paid family leave to the debt limit increase. With the Reconciliation bill passed Democrats get it all and House republicans retain their anti-family, anti-democracy, and they can run on American decay and try to win over the people. You put paid family leave in with the debt limit and some republican, perhaps many of them, won't tank the economy, cut off Social Security checks and tell voters right before Christmas they want you to go to work instead of caring for a parent dying from COVID.

In my view Cricket....I don't think the hold-out progressives really lost....they accomplished a lot. They will be a thorn just like the republican Freedom caucus is. However, the Democratic party lost a lot in nearly a 90 day delay in getting this done. Manchin and Sinema did a lot of damage. But no matter what...right after Christmas it's going to be bare knuckles politics for the next year.

How do you think that shakes out in the senate? Can the Democrats hang onto that Georgia seat? If not, can they sink Ron Johnson in Wisc and win the Penn seat?

We do not get enough evidence as to where our Representation and the government stands.. All issues are muddle and confused..
We need to go BASIC and Specific...Define the issue..not the extent of the application of the issue.
Democrat issues, at the BASIC level are undeniable. Put the basic issue up for a vote

Basic voting Rights
Basic immigration and DACA
Basic minimum wage and family leave
Basic education spending and costs
Basic Tax Changes.. remove loopholes, and Tax avoidance
Codify the Right to an abortion...by itself
Basic Climate Change changes
Basic perscription cost control and basic health care regulations

All put to a vote separately... and then it won't matter if it passes or not

We will know which Representation is to BLAME. What that Representation stands for. And how we have power to change it.

Everything we talk about is Pie in the Sky.. but we can only eat one piece at a time.

In regards to Covid...Stop the mandates and add the cost.. People who do not get vaccinated Must have to pay for that cost.
The cost of the vaccination, the cost of health care, the cost of employer losses, the cost of contact investigations, ,
Much like STD's.. there should be civil procedures for unvaccinated. that disregard the public good in exposing others.

We no longer have to explain the benefits of getting vaccinated .. but accentuate the costs of not getting vaccinated.

You don't need mandates..You need the rights of employers to put additional costs and burdens on those who choose to be unvaccinated. Including increased health insurance costs.

Progressive are like Trump supporters..They do not Represent the majority,, but believe they do...Progressive bite off a whole lot more than they can chew.

Progressives will cost the Democrat Party the house and senate.
Progressives will cause the defeat of Biden in 2024
Progressives like Trump supporters fail to compromise, fail to Trust, fail to Acknowledge anyone who's different than them.
Progressive want it NOW
Progressive like Trump supporter will NEVER be satisfied.

Progressive never really saw the negativity of Trump.. They saw the opportunity.
They went all out in primaries.. They made the democrat party more progressive than it actually was..they saw their chance, Like trump making the Republican party his party...They are trying to make the Democrat party their party .

The progressive aren't interested in fixing American Politics..they are interested in making American politics their own

Not all progressive are like that..but their silence speaks only as loud as the Republican silence on Trump

I like the idea of dumping the costs on the public...that should be the missing link...applicable to all employees from companies with less than 100 people to protect their solvency. I would do that tomorrow.
