They say when most people get older they lose their "filters"
what exactly are "Filters;"?

For our generation filters were, in part, having to taking responsibility for what one says.
If one is not willing to take that responsibility.. then they apply filters..

It was once an accusation for old people., who no longer thought that any repercussions from what they say would be any more detrimental than they already are at that moment....... but things have changed.

Their is no doubt that "filters" prevent a lot bad feelings, hurtful situations, and disagreements... that were better left unsaid.

What happened?

With social media came anonymity, partisanship, and finding agreement and justification, to NOT need "filters".

We may tend to think this is new stuff..
When it''s the exposing of old stuff..It's not just an "old people" problem anymore.

We are the same as we were before .. we have just become "unfiltered"

There is no quick solution...
It's going to take awhile to work it all out..

The idea to use filters to avoid ones responsibility.. Says more about responsibility, than ideas.. Avoiding responsibility...doesn't change anything.

Not taking responsibility is a little different..than avoiding it ...
people don't have to take responsibility for a certain amount of time..but ultimately they will have to. Ultimately we all have to take responsibility for ourselves.

Filters are like traffic signals..they are warning of a possibility of a crash.
Those who heed the warning,.. never understand they were warnings, because the event never happens
Those who do not heed.. may get through it for awhile..Until they forced to reckon with.. what that warning actually meant.
While for "old people" there comes a time.. they don't really give a shit.
The "crash" is coming whether they heed the warning or not.
