What cannot be seen

Bible in one year:
1 Kings -

Luke 22: 1–20
Faith is confidence in what we hope for and security in what we do not see.

Hebrews : 1

Today's writing and intuition:

Hebrews : 1–6
Historians say that the Atomic Age began on July , 1945, when the first nuclear weapon was detonated in a remote New Mexico desert. But the Greek philosopher Democritus (c. 460–370 BC) was exploring the existence and power of the atom long before the invention of anything that could even see these tiny building blocks of the universe. Democritus understood more than he could see and the result was atomic theory.

The Scriptures tell us that the essence of faith is to embrace what cannot be seen. Hebrews : 1 states, "Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance in what we do not see." This security is not the result of wishful thinking or positive thinking. It is the trust in the God that we cannot see, but whose existence is the truest reality in the universe. His reality is shown in his creative works (Psalm 19: 1) and made visible by revealing his invisible character and ways in his , Jesus, who came to show us the love of the Father (John 1 : 18.

This is the God in whom "we live, move, and exist," as the apostle Paul said (Acts :28. As such, "we live by faith, not by sight"
(2 Corinthians 5. 7). However, we do not walk alone. The invisible God walks with us every step of the way.

He reflects and prays
In a world where seeing is believing, in what ways do you strive to live by faith in God? What has strengthened his faith and in what areas do you need to rest more fully in him?

Father, sometimes I have a hard time believing what I cannot see. However, you have promised me your faithful love and that you will never leave me or forsake me. Help me to rest in that promise.

I learn more and more every day to trust in Him in every area of my life. Many lessons are learned by failing to trust and relying too much on my own understanding.

Be a prism, spreading God's light and love, not a mirror reflecting the world's hatred.
