Wisdom and power are yours.

Today's Scriptures & Insight:

Daniel 1:–; 2:19–20
her college volleyball team, my granddaughter learned a winning principle. When the ball came its way, no matter what, she could "improve the ball." She could make a move that would leave her teammates in a better position, without throwing tantrums, blaming or making excuses. Always improve the situation.

That was Daniel's response when he and Hebrew friends were taken in captivity by the king of Babylon Nebuchadnezzar. Although they were given pagan names and ordered take years of "training" in the enemy's palace, Daniel was not infuriated. Instead, he asked permission not desecrate himself in the sight of God by eating the king's rich food and wine. As this intriguing biblical story shows, after consuming nothing but vegetables and water for ten days (Daniel 1, Daniel and his friends "seemed healthier and better nourished than any of the young men ate the royal food" (v. ).

another occasion, Nebuchadnezzar threatened kill Daniel and the sages of the palace if they could not repeat the king's haunting dream and interpret . Once again, Daniel did not panic, but sought mercy "from the God of heaven," and the mystery was revealed him in a vision (2:19). As Daniel declared of God, "wisdom and power are his" (v. 20). Throughout his captivity, Daniel sought the best of God despite the conflicts he faced. In our own problems, let us follow this example, improving the situation by taking it God.

Reflect & Pray
What battles are you facing now? As you turn away from these problems and seek God, how does he make your journey better?

Loving God, life's challenges are overwhelming today. As I turn to You, ask out my despair travel better with you.

Sometimes, that is a hard thing for me to do, and I'm afraid I often wait until the situation is really bad.

Be a prism, spreading God's light and love, not a mirror reflecting the world's hatred.
