Look!

Bible in one year:
Judges 4–6

Luke 4:31–44
From the lips of and babies, Lord, he has asked for your praise.

Matthew 21:

Today's Scriptures & Insight:

Matthew 21:–
"Look at my fairy princess dance, Grandma!" my three-year-old cheerfully called as she ran through the yard of our cabin, a big smile on her face. His "dance" brought a smile; and her older brother's sad, "She's not dancing, just running," didn't take her joy at vacation with the family.

The first Palm Sunday was a day of ups and downs. When Jesus entered Jerusalem on a donkey, the crowd shouted enthusiastically: "Hosanna! . . . Blessed be he that comes in the name of the Lord!" (Matthew 21:9). However, many in the crowd expected a Messiah to deliver them from Rome, not a Savior who would die for their sins that same week.

Later that day, despite the wrath of the chief priests who questioned Jesus' authority, the in the temple expressed their joy shouting, "Hosanna the of David" (v. ), perhaps jumping and waving palm branches as they ran through the courtyard. They could not worshipping Him, Jesus said to outraged leaders, for "from the lips of [God] has called [His] praise" (v. ). They were in the presence of the Savior!

Jesus invites us to see him also for who He is. When we do, as a full of joy, we cannot but revel in His presence.

Reflect & Pray
How do daily distractions and discontent from others take away from God? What will you keep your eyes on Jesus?

Loving God, thank you for everything you've done for me! I am amazed the great lengths you went to be able to find joy in You. me keep my focus firmly on You.

I am saddened to admit that I allow many distractions throughout the day to keep my mind focused on problems and not on the Lord who is the solver of my problems. In fact, many times, if I had followed His lead more closely, I would not have the problems in the first place.

Be a prism, spreading God's light and love, not a mirror reflecting the world's hatred.
