Vigil Veteran and Jailbirds on the Poor Farm - Geocaching Adventures

This Morning I decided to start Geocaching Adventures in Texas. I put Ferlin the Mutt on a leash and we walked SW 0.5mi my home coordinates

Valiant Veterans
N 32° 33.924 W 096° 19.005

This cache is located at the site of the Kaufman County Veteran's Memorial. What a totally awesome memorial for a small town although it's a big city compared to anything in Greenbrier County, West Virginia. It honors veterans from the Spanish American war to the present middle east conflict. I signed the log thinking, "This is for you Dad," for my Father who was a Korean and Vietnam War Veteran.

Around the corner 0.1mi was

Sick Bay
N 32° 33.963 W 096° 19.108
The cache is located in what was once the Kaufman County Poor Farm.

This proved to be an interesting experience. When I walked into the grounds, I encounters a group of
gentlemen in orange and white striped regalia. My first thought was "Oh No! I walked into a men's jail facility. The Deputy approached me, I showed him the Geocaching Information and told him what I was doing.
"That is fine ," the deputy assured me as he commented on what a pretty Ferlin was. The men in orange stripes didn't appear to be criminals of the violent variety since they were not in chains and the lone deputy didn't have a gun on them. Maybe after they served their debt to society, they will be come Geocachers.
