The Adventures of Texas Roads

I can be directionally challenged even with a GPS.

I am used to dodging deer and occasionally running over opossums on curving country back roads in West Virginia.

Now I live in Texas which is surrounded by six lane highways and freeways. Needless to say in order to become a part of this community, I better get used to the roads.

I hope Gene didn't get too irate when I drove him to the Truck Terminal. I was so nervous that I kept getting the numbers and directions mixed up. I also mispronounced the names of some of the towns. Luckily I was able to make it back from the Terminal easily.

A few days later, I was invited to a Thankgiving 12 Step Gathering in Mesquite.
Thus I printed out a google map and drove US175 West to I-20 East to I-635 N to Gus Thomasson Street to I-30 W to the Freedom Group in Mesquite and made it with only a minor hitch without creating any Texas Roadkill. I am proud of me.

It is great to hear from you. You will learn the roads soon. At least a lot of the are straight. There isn't a single straight road in Atlanta. I wore out four maps before I was comfortable.

Get a map and study the main roads. Usually if you get turned around you will run into one of them soon and can find your way to where you need yo go.

star, maybe the most important thing to pay attention to are the access roads along the major highways here in texas. sometimes they are 'one way' and sometimes they have traffic going both ways and, especially at night, it can get confusing. but you will discover that, for the most part, texans are incredibly courteous drivers.
