Hawk Observatory Tower - A Geocaching Story

Hawk Observatory Tower Cache
N 37° 30.226 W 080° 27.267

Yesterday was a spectacular Day. I met the gentleman friend by the Community College. There is an old graveyard across from the College. I was searching for a civil war era grave to utilize for a multi-cach that I am creating. The Story of the Greenbrier Martyr - Most of my caches have Historical themes to them. I found the grave.

The evening before, I pointed out to the Gentleman the Hawk Observatory Tower Cache which is near his residence. This one is a challenge which I would not care to attempt by myself. I was going to introduce him to the joys of Geocaching with a few of the easier caches, but he suggested that we go for the Hawk Observatory Tower Woo Hoo!

This one was a challenge. The last mile was mainly uphill on the Allegheny Trail to the top of Peter's Mountain but what an awe inspiring view.

The panoramic landscape is 360 degrees of breath taking wonder as far as the eyes can see. The walk-in Hawk Observatory tower on top of Peters Mountain overlooks both Virginia and West Virginia just as they did when the two states were one. This tower (called Hanging Rock Tower) is highly remote, making it so truly spectacular. In addition, the tower is on the Hawk migration path.

Just a little bit beyond the tower, we found the cache. - I thanked the Gentleman for coming with him, telling him that I would never want to do this one by myself but there were others that I can do on my own. He advised me that I didn't have to do them by myself. He wanted to come with me.
YES!!!!!

Coming back, we were driving through Paint Bank, Virginia, highly scenic farmland with Buffalo Farms (Bison).
