Trolls, Spammers, Jailbirds & CRYSTALS!!! If a blogger has a different political, religious, philosophical prospective or lifestyle than mine, that's cool. We are not a cookie cutter world. Bloggers have the right to express those views. Trolls who engage in personal attacks and spammers who are downright disrespectful often end up getting booted out by the SFF Police. They come back with alternative profiles and it's business as usual. There are some blogs that I usually don't bother to read. One blogger writes in loops and swirls with no respect for any prospective other than his own. The other one has wordy equivocation articulation usually C&P that make no sense at all but also no prospective other than his own. Hate Trump or Hate God Blogs also have a place in my iggie box. They have a right to write these ridiculous blogs and I have a right to scroll pass them. There are some who enjoy stick measuring exchanges - Que Sera Sera!!! Three of the trolls went on winter vacation for the holidays with the announcement - They ARE Back!!!! Happy Happy Joy Joy!!!! My theory is that one of them is blogging while in a manic state while the other one is drunk blogging. I don't really know what is happening on the other side of the screen but that is my theory. CPIII has morphed into CPIX. She claims that she deleted her profile, went on vacation, and recreated another profile. My inclination is to believe that she got a well deserved boot into SFF Jail. Bravo!!!! My Higher Self knows "not to feed the bullies and trolls. Toss them in the iggie box." My Shadow Self wants to push back. My blog is "un·a·pol·o·get·ically STAR!!!" This means that I don't have to explain, justify, or apologize for my Religious & Spiritual beliefs, my political inclination, my science, my idiocrasies. AD INFINITUM!!!!! If a SFF Bully, Troll, Retread Jailbird wants to use those reasons to attacks........... My Higher Self and Shadow Self are going to have debate. As you like it or NOT!!!  Abracadabra  |

I think we all have a higher self and a shadow self, and usually function somewhere in between. Destiny and I used to discuss this..... when I give into my shadow self and write or do something I know I shouldn't, at least I do feel bad about it. I find myself holding my tongue,,,, or fingers,,,,, more often in face book than in here. Be a prism, spreading God's light and love, not a mirror reflecting the world's hatred.

You speak of your "higher self" and "shadow self" as distinct aspects of your psyche.....do you subscribe to Jung's entire philosophy of Archetypes or just these two? I used the term "higher self" because that is the term that Star had used..... for myself, it means that I try to live up to the teachings of Jesus and do and say things that I believe are pleasing to my God. But I also recognize there are times I fail badly, and can act in a totally nasty way.... hence, my shadow side because I don't like to have it come out for everyone to see. Thankfully, the older I get the less likely I am to behave badly, and have learned to pass on by situations that would have triggered my ire in the past. Be a prism, spreading God's light and love, not a mirror reflecting the world's hatred.

Neither. I know little about Jung or his philosophy. I used the term "higher self" because that is the term that Star had used..... for myself, it means that I try to live up to the teachings of Jesus and do and say things that I believe are pleasing to my God. Well, those terms, Higher self and Shadow self are terms that Carl Jung came up with as two of his Archetypes....You have obviously adapted the terms to your personal philosophy, though you and Star and Destiny apparently shared definitions of those terms among yourselves.......It's kind of confusing when people use such well known terminology to refer to something else....especially in a public venue. BTW, did you know she was also an author? I have her trilogy of books on my shelf, all personally signed by her. The last one is hardly legible because of her deteriorating physical condition. Be a prism, spreading God's light and love, not a mirror reflecting the world's hatred.

I was unfamiliar with Jung's use of those words. As I said, Destiny and I just lightly discussed our Shadow sides, but she may have been familiar with Jung's philosophy because she read a lot of different things. BTW, did you know she was also an author? I have her trilogy of books on my shelf, all personally signed by her. The last one is hardly legible because of her deteriorating physical condition.

How often do folks use terms and phrases without really knowing the origin of where that phase came from? I often quote Shakespeare and find out later that the phrase that I am using is from one of Shakespeare's plays.

Yup.....The New Age folks took up every bit of spiritual nomenclature from disparate sources, juggled them around and used them higgelty-piggelty........Sweat lodging was very popular with the friends of Bill......Magpie Spirituality........ Since I have Native American ancestry, I was exploring that part of my heritage at the time. When I lived in Ojai, California, there were quite a few folks who were into metaphysics. Actually, very few of my 12 Step friends have been sweat lodging. I connected with a Native American commune through someone I met from my work. A few of my 12 Step Friends backed away when they found out that some of the people in the community participate in Peyote Ceremonies. Since I have Native American ancestry, I was exploring that part of my heritage at the time. When I lived in Ojai, California, there were quite a few folks who were into metaphysics. I didn't say those spiritual practices were "new", I said that the "New Age" movement borrowed spiritual ideas and practices from many disparate sources and juggled them around.....I know many AA people that were into sweat lodging ......I helped out some AA friends by being the fire-keeper for their sweat-lodge ceremonies, so they could all attend....I usually BBQd some Salmon, spuds and sometimes corn on the outside fire at the same time as I heated the stones and replaced them in the lodge...There was always eating after the sweat......I tried staying for some of the ceremony, but the prayers were interminable..... That made me smile. Sometimes, we have friends who do not like each other, and that was also the case of Belle and Destiny. They absolutely could not stand each other, but each was my friend. The solution was that I just never discussed either of them with the other. It worked for all of us. Abracadabra

So, my problem with borrowing terminology is not about loyalty to the original, it's the definition of the term.....the meaning.....very confusing to discuss ideas when the same terms have different meanings. I'm used to those terms being references to Jung's definitions......It's impossible to communicate about philosophy and/or Psychology without first defining terminology.....We use labels as shortcuts...that way, we don't have to continually explain what we are referring to. Pat obviously has a very different definition of the term "Higher Self" and "Shadow Self" than Jung, yet she and you and Destiny all use the term as if the meaning is assumed.....It doesn't seem to have any basis in Jung's philosophy of "self", so why use his terminology ?.....Can you refer me to a source that defines those terms as you understand them?..... Higher Self and Shadow Self are terms that I heard from others and used those terms without really knowing the origin of where they came from. I've done the same with Shakespeare or even Opera - finding myself using phases and sitting in a theater hearing that phase. It's an "Ah Ha!" moment. So that's where it came from but where did they find the phases. We may never know.
