The Offensive Rock and the Wandering Dude

Nileyears did a blog on the removal of a rock because of an offensive name that was used in an era when that term was commonly used. She mentioned having a Native American Grandmother - with a different story.

It brings to mind a similar scenerio. I belong to a group for houseplants. Wandering Jews houseplants have to be called Wandering Dudes houseplants. I personally think it's kind of silly. I have a Jewish Grandfather. Is his story my story? He spent his years in a boy's reformatory and was transferred to San Quintin Prison at age 19. I have never been in a reform school nor served time in prison. I have been in the back of a police car and had to do community .

My grandfather did eventually become a responsible law-abiding member of society as I have.

So I recently learned that my maternal Jewish Grandfather was possibly a member of the 12 Step Community. I stumbled into the same community a few years after his death. While his story is not my story - my story is a continuation of our family history and story. There could have been a very different outcome.

I tried making a plant out of a Wandering Jew/Dude cutting but it didn't take. I might have to try again and name it Granddaddy Jack W.

I like the way you incorporate the dandelions right into the flower bed. There is probably a lesson in that..... let everyone just be themselves.

Dandelions are the first ones that come up in the spring and the first food for the bees. I've seen people pull them out or spray roundup on them. I refuse to to that to them. They are a valuable plant and every part is useful. They can grow all that they want in my flower bed.

Ha, my step dad was Jewish, my Mom converted before they got married. She had wandering Jews all over her house. Then she'd snip some and get them to root and started giving plants away. They loved that they called Wandering Jews, it didn't offend them, but then again, people weren't so easily offended back then as they are now.

I never knew the Wandering Jew plant was renamed the Wandering Dude. It's a lovely plant to grow, especially nice in a hanging basket.

You constantly ask that same question of others, but apparently not of yourself.........What difference does it make to you what anyone else on this site says about anything ? What difference does it make to you? You're the cancel-culture queen..... .........Kettle/Pot.....

Wandering Jew, wandering dude lol. The older I get the more I understand that this is not the world I grew up in. Funny thing is, that's what my dad said when he was my age. So I guess the world is right

Dusty in the year prior to John Kennedy being assassinated we had a farm store feed grinding business & these old 65-80 year old farmers & ranchers would always be talking of world problems & how they didn't think the country would survive when they would die & the younger generation would have to take over. LOL

Now I see talk by our generation of how dumb the young generation of today is. It seems the more things change ----the more they remain the same. LOL
I'm guilty on that also.
But then today I was thinking of my son-in-law medical doctor,
my mechanical engineer son, and my chemical engineer grandson and realized they are much smarter than I am or ever was. LOL
Perhaps there is a chance for survival in the future. LOLOL.
Party On!

Dandelions are not weeds. They provide nectar for the bees so that they can make honey and feed themselves along with a few other creatures including humans. They are also very beautiful and magickal with healing properties. One of my favorite times of Spring is when the Dandelions start to bloom.

I would be inclined to give a similar response minus the profanity. Why does the dandelions in my flower bed create any issues in your life?

You are frequently abusive toward other bloggers. Why should I be concerned when somebody throws it back at it.
