BeCAREFULwhatYouPrayFor...........

When I was a youngster, I loved going to the Catholic Church with my Great-Granddaddy Miller. I learned to play with candles and talk to the Saints. I would go back home to my usual church and be told that worshipping the Saints was a sin. I never looked at Saints as Gods - I considered them God's helpers along with angels, fairies, gnomes, ancestors, ad infinitum.

I am fortunate that I found a spiritual community that allows me to be who I am.

I don't tend to give my Higher Power a "Honeydew" List. he's not Santa Claus (although technically Santa aka Saint Nicholas might be one of God's Helpers) We do have our conversations. .

Six months ago, I did an VIII day candle ritual with St. Jude and Guadalupe asking for a healing. I was plagued by digestive pain that was REALLY aggravating. I kept the candles going and got VERY sick for three days. I wasn't stable enough to drive myself to the doctor. My alternatives - call an ambulance - if they don't keep me, I would have to figure out how to get home. I could tough it out and either get well or stable enough to drive to the E.R. I finally was able to drive to the E.R.

The hospital kept me and ambulanced me to a hospital in Charleston for surgery. I asked for a healing and that's what it took.

I was warned that recovery from this surgery might take "a while." I talked to the nurse on the phone about my messy house and she advised me "don't worry about the housework." Dang! I am not a domestic Goddess by any means but it really got out of hand. So I started, "asking for recommendations" for a housekeeper. A friend suggested, the local committee on aging. I called and was told that there is a VERY LONG waiting list. Oh Joy! Can't they just have a list of housekeeping businesses. I don't mind paying someone for their talent and energy. No such luck.

I got a love letter from the landlord. The landlord is a real cockalorum aka self important little man aka bully. He is doing his yearly inspection for potential repairs that most likely won't get made. He will be checking my bedroom for unauthorized men, marijuana, and inside tobacco use. "Don't worry about the housework" is not an alternative.

So............Another VIII Day Candle Ritual.

I started l asking Saint Jude and Guadalupe to help me get my house in order and it would be much appreciated if this problematic hip gets fixed. No half measures solution. Lets just get it fits so that I can go geocaching again.

Lo and behold, a member from my spiritual community sent me a recommendation for a housekeeper. I called her and she is coming Monday morning. I texted the landlord and advised him to do his white glove inspection later in the day or even the next day. He will be much happier if he does. He grumbled but either he deals with it or he doesn't.

I work up yesterday morning feeling less pain. I started cleaning the house but might actually get it clean enough for the housekeeper when she arrives.

I also have a HOMEMADE Candle for St. Expedite. (Not going at this time) He can be used when $$$$$ is needed. He likes pound cake which is crumbled on the ground for birds, rabbits and squirrels after the VIII days. I usually just place the coins that I find in a jar and donate it it charity. The grocery stores have a coin converter that will print out a slip for cash or credit toward a purchase. There is also an option to donate it to charity. I use that option when honoring St. Expedite.

Good luck getting the place clean before the inspection by the landlord.

There's an old saying to be careful what you wish for, you just might get it..... implying that it may not be the way you want it though.
I have learned when I pray, to be ready to accept the method the Lord will use to answer my prayers. It's often not at all what I imagined, expected, or really wanted, like your surgery.
I'm glad you found someone to come help you with the household chores.
I had a daughter who was my "gal Friday" and helped me with whatever I needed done. But her health failed and she was no longer hardly able to do her own chores. Then a grand daughter was coming for a few hours a week to help and she was a wiz! But then, she moved to TN. and I'm on my own again.

Be a prism, spreading God's light and love, not a mirror reflecting the world's hatred.

So good that some of your prayers were answered. Hope everything works out well for you healthwise. Fantastic to help with those chores too. My sons and daughters do most of the and heavy and difficult jobs for me now.

I just got a video from my son and grandson in Greece, they are on holiday there from Sweden. Samuel lit candles for granddad, who has passed and one for me. The icons in the beautiful little church are just amazing.
