Dandelions, Gnomes, Wal-Mart and Sacred Herbs

It is better be a "Has Been" than a "Never Was" and be candidly honest, I am NOT "gracefully surrendering the things of youth?!"

The Pandemic isn't making it better. So today, I finally decide to get out to start shopping for my yearly herb garden. It was late last year but even later this year because of the recent cold . West Virginia always gets snow just before Easter.

The Daffodils were ushering in Spring but where were my Dandelions? The bees need thier food make honey. I was delighted see the dandelions popping out of the cracks the concrete on my front porch. Some declare it a flower. Others call it a weed. I bid them welcome adorn my porch anytime they want.

I found the most adorable Gnomes at Dollar Tree. It's time balance out those fairies with a few more gnomes.

Lowes didn't have any herbs at . What a disappointment, I really didn't want go Wal-Mart but the quest for sacred Herbs.....................

Wal-Mart was not stocked with an abundance of herbs but I did manage to find a Rosemary plant and some Basil. I stopped to look at some potting soil near the flowering bulb section. She asked me about one of the flowering bulbs. I am more into growing practical versus flowers but she figured with my flower embroideries on my jacket that I had to know about flowers.

It wasn't quite social distancing but I assured her that I am not contagious since I have both the vaccines and she assured me that she was not contagious because she already had covid. She just moved back to West Virginia from Roanoke, VA and asked me where there were local greenhouse.

I was able to mention a few. It turns out that we BOTH live in White Sulphur Springs and her dog's name is Teddy. I told her about the wildflowers and dandelions surrounding my abode.

God, how I miss those friendly conversations. I am sure that I will meet Janice in town as we do our local bebopping in town. We might even attend the same mask burning party. I am looking forward to it.

Thank YOU.... for all you do to brighten the lives of those folks around you.
Speaking of dandy-lions.... have you ever eaten them? I've heard of folks cooking the leaves, or making tea, or even eating the blossoms. We used to have an abundance of them blooming in our yard and garden area early in the spring. We tried frying the blossoms one year, like pumpkin blossoms.
They were ok, but they have a slightly bitter bite to them.

Be a prism, spreading God's light and love, not a mirror reflecting the world's hatred.

I prefer to shop at our local Lowes than Home Depot and Walmart. They usually have everything I need.

We usually have a Dandelion Festival in town where Dandelion Tea, Salad, Wine, Ad Infintum are available. I use Dandelion Tea instead of Coffee quite often. It works out quite well.

As a child growing up in the country , adults and children always referred to dandelions as pissabed. I have no idea why they were called that.

From piss +‎ bed, so called after the dandelion's supposed diuretic effect
