Ole Fred's Story

Today, my younger picked so that I could get my car from the local hospital. The that he acquired "Ole Fred" was in the back seat. My was telling that he had take "Old Fred" the vet get his stitches taken out after a "Procedure" He felt bad about having do it but it was probably it was for the dog's own good.

My found a stunning beautiful black German Shepard on a hiking trail near the farm where he was staying. I pointed out Billy that that was probably the reason Ole Fred got lost in the first place. It turns out that Billy did recently run into the old owner. The was staying with the owner's mother and the owner's mother died. The got lost among the chaos. His former name was Shadow.

I think about this poor furbaby and how alone he must have felt. Thank God he and my found each other. The loves my very intensely.

The former owner told my that he was welcome to keep the dog. I am sure that it is gratifying to know that his is okay, cared and loved.

I remember being in that scenerio years ago. I was stuck in Nevada because of a dumb relationship. I knew I had head back but it would not have been fair drag my Ferlin with . I was having lunch with a retire cop who told that he was looking for a dog. I had the perfect for him. The retired LEO ended loving Ferlin as much as I did. He gave Ferlin a much better life than I could have at the time.

Several years ago, two dogs appeared on my daughter's porch late at night. She took them in, gave them food and water and a place to sleep until she could find the owner the next day.
She never did find the owner. One distant neighbor said they looked a bit like the dogs of an old lady who had died and a daughter came from far away and cleaned out her house. We all supposed that she had just kicked the dogs out to fend for themselves.
But they found their forever home with my daughter and her family.
After we had to euthanize our little dog, Pip, we sent the cat to live with one of my daughters. It was a constant concern that it would get underfoot and cause one of us to fall.

Be a prism, spreading God's light and love, not a mirror reflecting the world's hatred.

I love cats, too bad my landlord does not allow pets in the building.

Our dogs give us a reason to get out and let them have a walk or even stay in the yard. We have Foxes and Coyotes in the area and need to keep an eye on the dogs, the Chihuahuas would make a nice snack for the other critters.
