covid19 & Seniors Versus Hoarders

There are essential workers but somehow I've managed to become the essential volunteer for some of the folks in the apartment building where my abode is located. The same thing happened when the 1000 year flood happened a few years back. There were several homebound seniors and I was able find and deliver water along with other necessities' for them.

The folks that I am helping in the covid-19 crisis are not quite homebound but they do have medical appointments and need buy groceries so it's transport them. The Committee Aging usually provides transportation for seniors medical appointment but they are grounded because of covid-19.

We were discussing the Toilet Paper Shortage due to the Hoarders. I finally suggested, "Why don't we buy a bunch on-line and distribute it to folks in the building. I checked Amazon and found a box of 40 rolls. When I got home, I realized these 40 rolls of TP were from CHINA!!!! How long would it take for them to get here from China? I cancelled that order and found 3 -packs from Wal-Mart, That should outlast the hoarders.

I am grateful that my Higher Power gives me the resources to be useful and make life easier for others.

I have always believed that we are blessed to be a blessing to others! As for the hoarding problems, we have not had a problem finding the things we need, if not at one store, we find them at another.
I've always bought toilet paper in bulk because I hate shopping. When we started getting low, I told my daughter who was doing my shopping to start watching for toilet paper and it didn't matter the brand. She bought us a rather large package of a different brand, so we were good on that front.
Finding salt free canned vegetables is not always easy, so when I do, I buy several cans. I don't consider that hoarding, just normal stocking up because I hate shopping.
We live far from others, so there isn't anyone I can help like you do, but I can give to the food pantries in our area to help feed those who need it.

Be a prism, spreading God's light and love, not a mirror reflecting the world's hatred.

There is a big difference between hoarding and stocking up. I usually buy a 24 pack of toilet paper which will last quite a while because I do live alone. I am well stocked in canned good so if there is a real emergency, I am okay for awhile. We all help in different ways with the different resources and different scenarios that work best for us. It's all good.
