Social Distancing , Container Gardens, & the Book Club

The Joy of Quarantining - The days are blended into thisDAY, ThatDAY, OtherDAY, SomeDAY. YesterDAY, ToDAY, and NextDAY.

I do know that tommorrow or actually today because I am burning the midnight oil and beyond is known by traditional Quakers as FirstDAY which usually means I have to get myself out of bed, get dress, drive across town to the local friends worship group. I will still be In my pajamas in a few hours, I will climb out of bed, turn on ZOOM and attend our FirstDAY GB Valley Worship along with Charleston Meeting. Technically we are umbrella of the Charleston Meeting as a Worship Group but it's 60 plus mile drive either way to join them.

We were also able to do our monthly book club on the messenger. There are Step Meetings "In the Rooms" and I was able talk my grandson via FB Messenger.

This is the time of the year when I usually start my container gardens. I live in an apartment so I can't have as large of a garden as I would like but I do manage have a pumpkin patch growing by Autumn courtesy of the last years Halloween Pumpkin.

I have plans create a container Fairy Garden enter for the State Fair in August. I am praying that we will be able have a fair this year. West Virginia will be one of the first states open back . It is rural with a lower population than most of the other states. Greenbrier County has 3 Covid-19 cases and they are recovered. Most of the cases are clustered in the northern counties that border other states.

It seems like most are doing a good job with "Staying at Home" and "Social Distancing," I am a tad bit annoyed because my favorite local greenhouse is closed. It is likely that most parts of West Virginia will open along with the businesses including my greenhouse. I might get that Fairy Garden going after in time for the West Virginia State Fair.

I definitely to need find plants for my Fairy Garden. I was going through my inventory of magickal figurines. I have dragons and trolls but only one fairy. That will not do. Once the Greenhouse opens, I definitely have to be on the lookout for fairies. Call me xenophobic but I definitely don't want any fairies made in China.

Why am I not surprised to see dandelions growing along side of grape hyacinths? LOL.
Our area has very few cases either. Most are clustered in the big city areas. I expect to see our governor begin to allow places to open around the end of the month.
And I wonder if we will see court challenges on the right of government to arbitrarily close business without due process?

Hi Star: Yes it is that time of year. So glad we have a large yard to get into shape what with all this social distance thing. Left all the leaves and long grass down for the bugs and other insects to hide under for the winter. Now out there and got the raking done, cleared the dead wood from the bushes and trees and now starting on the raised garden boxes. So much to do it takes the mind off this virus epidemic.
Going to try to grow peas from the peas I grew this past summer, wonder if it will work.

Oh well, good to see you, stay safe.

Great suggestions. LOL! My X-Mas decorations consist of a small plug in fiber optic tree, One clear bulb with the Grinch inside it and O'Malley, the elf of the shelf. I did finally order a Fairy from the Bay. I found some cute little piglets that I thought would look cute but noted that they were in China.. I try not to be xenophobic but the shipping might be problematic. I can still use my dragons and gnomes but I need more fairies.

I've made a lot of dolls and many fairies when my grand daughter was little. I made them out of all kinds of things, many just twigs with a hazelnut or an acorn for a head. I made some out of old-fashioned wooden clothes-pegs with silk flowers for a skirt. You can take a flower apart and make a dress......large wooden beads make great heads, you can draw a face on it, put some unravelled yarn into the hole at the top, stick a twig in the bottom for the neck, add some twigs for arms and legs, make a skirt out of a piece of scarf or lacy stuff....dye it with some food colouring, add some glitter.....LOL....I'm totally geared up for fairy crafting
