Rural America and Wal-Mart

According to the LeafMAN - Rural America is doomed because Trump doesn't care. He's wrong. Rural America will survive. There is no fantasy that the Government is going to come rescue us from the plague. There are very few tools in the shed for dealing with it but Rural Americans have a tendency to stick together although learning to do it at a social distance is a challenge.

The restaurants are closed but we've discussed the importance of supporting these businesses who are doing curb side and home deliveries. Many of these businesses are making meals for home-bound seniors, and their families. Thanks to the stimulus business loans along with the loan forgiveness clause, these business can stay open and the staff stay employed. THANKS President Trump!!!

My sister just organized a fundraiser for her favorite bowling alley. I was impressed with our local Food Lion's efforts to protect their essential staff members. I always look forward to starting my mostly container gardens this time of the year. One of my local 12 Step friends (or at least his Ala-non wife) left a bag of seeds on my car.

I haven't graced the local Wal-Mart with my presence. However, I got a call this afternoon, two of the senior gentlemen who live in my building were stranded at Wal-Mart. There are three Uber drivers in the entire county. They were overwhelmed with requests and one of the cars was in the shop. These gentlemen were in for a VERY long wait. I wanted to ask WTF are you doing at Wal-Mart but Social Distancing or not, I wasn't leaving them stranded.

When I arrived, the parking lot was full and hoarder were going to their cars with loaded baskets. One woman had about two dozen gallon containers of milk. WTF is she going to do with all that milk. Maybe she owns an Ice Cream Shop.

So now, Wal-Mart is going to take the temperature of all the employees and send them home if the temperature is over 100. Dah! I remember getting reprimanded for being sick. I remember having to take a LOA for pneumonia, getting back from sick leave and immediately being placed behind a register close to the doors with the cold wind constantly blowing in. I'll not be shopping at Wal-Mart.

Rural America will be just fine. Like it or not, Trump is the right man for President at the time. When the Health Crisis is over, we need a businessman not a professional politician to get us out of the economic slump caused by COVID-19..

So true, Star. There is such a difference between city and country folk's attitudes and methods of handling situations. One look at the map of where the hot spots of COVID-19 are located says a lot.

Be a prism, spreading God's light and love, not a mirror reflecting the world's hatred.

I wonder how many Walmart employees have a body temperature of more than 200....Is that Celsius or Fahrenheit........You should ask Trump....After all, he knows more about everything than anyone.....Today he said that he knows more about South Korea than anyone and immediately after said that Seoul has a population of 38 million....He also doesn't understand what per-capita means......I would estimate his IQ hovers near 60......What a guy to have in charge during a crisis......

Government handouts mean getting under government thumbs - we know - needless to say without it, the stimulus bill our citizens would be in far worse shape than they already are. country from falling into a depression. The stimulus package is keeping these businesses in operation. You can slam Trump all that you want. It is your constitutional right even if you are not a citizen. Nevertheless, It is going to take a business man to keep the economy from completely going under and bouncing back when this is over.
I can't visualize Biden or Sanders doing anything positive.

You speak my mind. Eisenhower was President when I was born and I grew up in a family of generational blue dog democrats. It seems like my entire family has switch over, I didn't vote for Reagan or either of the Bushes but never felt the need to disrespect them even with political differences. I didn't vote for Trump either but after watching Democrats/Liberal/Armchair Critics and how hateful they are (including the ones in the SFF blogs) - I have to conclude that they have been eating those demented bats from China.

A successful and honest business man could be what this country needs as a leader. The current occupant of the White House has not been such a good business man.
Here is a list of his failed business. Keep in mind that many lives were affected by this.
01. Trump Airlines
02. Trump Beverages
03. Trump the Game
04. Trump Casinos
05. Trump Magazine
06. Trump Mortgage
07. Trump Steaks
08. Trumps Travel Sites
09. Trump University
10. Trump Vodka

Being originally from New Jersey I have seen first hand the shell of his failed business that still stand on the boardwalk in Atlantic City.
The saddest thing to me is that when presented with hard facts people will ignore them.
