3 Teetotaler Gatherings & A Medallion

Folks often think I am a free-spirited wild but I actually lead a very conservative lifestyle. I don't smoke, indulge in mind altering chemicals and spend more time in nature than I do parties. My Spiritual Advisor called me a culture junkie. I love Operas and all things Shakespeare. My life works out better when I am part of a religious/spiritual community. I became a teetotaler four decades and one year ago for very good reasons.

My teetotalling anniversary was in late November. I was in Washington D.C. for a lobbying event. I opted to go to a meeting during that time versus partying with the Quakers. I was hoping to pick up a 41 year medallion but alas they were not giving them out.

I arrived home and planned to pick up one at a local meeting. No 41 year medallions. The leader offered into town to get one but I nixed the idea and said I would simply pick it up the following week. He suggested a party for the event. Dang, a party for doing what I am suppose to be doing. I am being a law abiding productive citizen instead of an obnoxious drunk. However if someone wants to offer cake, pizza and scantily clad dancing men, I won't say nay. If they are wearing kilts and playing bagpipe music, that's a real plus.

A few days later, I was at another meeting. I gave a gentleman a 15 year medallion and he decided to give me a 41 year chip. I got home and found out that it was a 16 year medallion. Some of us can't read Roman Numerals.

Tonight, I went to the Party. There were no scantily clad men with kilts and bagpipe music but it's all good. The leader went to the larger group in town to get the medallion. He asked a young man the Roman Numerals for 41. The young man thought it was XLI but gOOglesearched it make sure.

Alcoholism is not a sin and teetotaling is not a virtue but we can take responsibility. I will never experience Sex On The Beach but OPERA is far more satisfactory

Star, I am so proud of you! Not because you do not drink....... but because you made a decision, set a goal, and accomplished it.

Be a prism, spreading God's light and love, not a mirror reflecting the world's hatred.

Two dozen years thus her time for change
Opposite priorities in which to exchange

In seeking lifelong happiness, on more solid ground
With her strong mind made up, that bottle put down

Captured then , the true meaning of life's celebrations
Behold joy now surrounds her, in countless jubilations

Culture, the arts, perhaps a glowing fireplace book
Viewed up close, void of all artificially induced looks

She loves her endless view, with now over four decades passed
A magnetic personality developed, most certainly not hatched

For mistakes are only temporary, when one becomes aware
That we all guide our own destinies, once we start to truly care

For when even alone we have a soul mate, it's called our brains
Sorting out rights from wrongs, thus our losses turned into gains!

Courage is merely ones convictions, of both mind and heart
For life journey only counts where ended, not where is starts!

While some silent unseen pangs of loneliness,
Still remain hidden from deep down inside

Hope, happiness, joy and thankfulness all proudly announce,
She has traveled her well chosen path, to most proudly arrive!
