The Joy of Political Labels

Political labels don't always tell the tale.. What does it really mean if someone says they are conservative, liberal, progressive, libertarian, etc?
Unless you go issue by issue and talk specifics, you really can't understand where another person is coming from. And when you use a label, you immediately put up a confrontational wall that separates you from others who may adhere to different labels, even though in truth you may well agree on several issues

label-formity.........uniformity and conformity.

In the political sense I am against labels.

Labels, that create a uniformity of prejudice, and a conformity of thought and purpose.

Haven't you self-identified as a liberal ? Anyway, as cute as your meme is, a conviction must follow the impeachment and trial before Vice-President Pence takes the Oval Office. They would have to repeat this process at least 15 times before a Democrat would ever sit in President Trump's chair in the Oval.

Maybe they will impeach your Governor for treason next because he switched his party affiliation.

Haven't you self-identified as a liberal?

It's obvious some people can't think without using labels.
Neither starwomyn, nor I, have declared ourselves to be Conservative or Liberal. Yet you have done so, you have declare for us. You try to put a label on us, that is simply untrue.

Using labels to created two distinct sides of a disagreement. Assuming, always, that a disagreement, puts someone on the "other side". The assumption that I or starwomyn believe the use of labels is bad, for you becomes a "liberal" idea, when there is nothing Liberal about it.

I can't think in the term of uniformity about labels. So when you label something,
I find it hard to believe it's about prejudice. Racism, for example, uses label to describe uniformity. The idea created by Republicans, is that labels are used more for conformity than uniformity. Getting people to conform to labeled ideas, that without the label, they would not conform to. The label becomes far more important than the subject. for example...Islamic terrorism. has far more to do with Islam than it does terrorism.

I am against labeling no matter where it comes from....People here try and label Trump and Trump supporters. I can't accept that. there is no label to describe Trump, or his supporters. Saying they are conservative, fascists, or racists is a misnomer designed to create conformity to that idea, and uniformity to a group of people, that aren't uniform at all.

I agree Starwomyn.

Labels divide and separate folks.

Very true! Inside every label is diversity, but those who insist on labels can't see that. And most of the time, the label used is meant to reflect negativity.

Be a prism, spreading God's light and love, not a mirror reflecting the world's hatred.

I identify myself as in the middle leaning to the left. You obviously identify yourself as a conservative but what issues do you support or disagree with. Actually, Jim Justice has switched his party back and forth several times. I don't care what party he is, if he is proactive in bringing jobs to West Virginia - that is fine with me. I have to work with Representatives and Senators on both sides and find it best to simply focus on the issue versus the party.

I remember the impeachment of Clinton. Even if he were successfully booted out of office, Al Gore would have been President a few months before Clinton's term would have ended. Big FiretrUCKING Deal. It cost the taxpayers mega bucks and gave Ken Star the jollies writing his report.

Yes, she has identified herself as a liberal. Nobody asked you because you would say you are a conservative liberal or a liberal conservative because you insist on taking both sides of any given issue. It is just the way you roll.

Anyway, my comment was to Star - not you.

That's one label I will accept...call me a conservative liberal or a liberal conservative.
I agree to that. that's what I am....I like being that way...it's my choice.

That's me, now about starwomyn....I don't know her. My presumption of her not to be labeled as a Liberal, is not based on your idea of labeling. It's base on what she writes and how she writes it. A label can not change that for me.
