POLL RESULTS!!!!Jefferson Davis did NOT "cross over" on the 4th of July.

ALL the voters knew their Early American History. There were a few who declined to vote but commented instead. Jefferson Davis who was President of the Confederacy did not die on the 4th of July

Three of the first five presidents died on July 4, , John Adams, Thomas Jefferson and James Monroe. Thomas Jefferson and John Adams died within hours of each other on the 50th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence. July 4th 1826, Five years later, James Monroe died on July 4th 1941.

To many Americans in the early 19th century, the timing of the deaths of three men who helped found and guide the young United States went beyond sheer coincidence

Obviously, Jefferson Davis was NOT the President of the United States but he was the President of the Confederacy. He was arrested for treason after the war but never charged. He was released after two years of incarceration.

I remember going to a Civil War Reenactment and listening to a Confederate Reenactor citing that "the Confederacy wants to achieved what the early colonist achieved. They wanted "Freedom from the Motherland." It occurred to me that if the British won the war - the Founding Fathers would have been arrested and put on trial for treason.

Many were loyal to the crown and headed to Canada for their well being and safety. History is not always pretty or comfortable.

The War of the Northern Aggression was all about the struggle between Old Money and New Money. Old Money needed the enslaved community to maintain the Southern plantations. New Money wanted those slaves to join the Irish immigrants to work in the sweat shops in the North.

The slavery issue could have been resolved without war.
