William Penn/DAR/12 Steps & Divine SERENDIPITY

Frequently, I find myself going in a direction that doesn't make sense until later on. I am not a super religious, churchy, bible banging type person but I do have a working relationship with a Divine Power.

The reason I know this is because of the many incidences too close to be mere coincidences that happen in my life. I had absolutely no plans to go to Washington DC this week but it turned out that I forgot about "volunteering" to be a DAR representative for our chapter.

I am also a William Penn House representative for our SAYMA Quakers. I was hoping to fulfill those responsibilities last month when I was there with three other women lobbying for environmental concerns. WPH overbooked so we ended up sleeping on the floor of a church instead. Life on life's terms.

Thus I stayed at the WPH, was able to work with the FCNL on the health care issue AND attend the DAR Continental Congress.

I was finishing the last of my packing when a five dollar bill flew out of a small handbag. This is exactly what I would need for the WPH key deposit. A divine happenstance. That was the one thing that I forgot.

I was on the train and noticed a magickal seal on the floor. Once upon a time, I used to make those things. I asked the pagan looking passengers if it was theirs but nobody claimed it. I am sure that I will know what it means and why at a later date.

I spent the week on Capitol Hill, the Senate Building, the DAR Library and Continental Hall. Quite a few of the DAR sisters stayed at the Trump Hotel. That is not my financial realities. I stayed at the William Penn House. The company is much more compatible with my disposition.

I made it home and decided to go to the local 12 Step Meeting. I was ten minutes late and no one was there. No one was there. If I had the key, I would simply make some coffee and start the meeting myself. A few minutes later, my girlfriend with another woman drove up. We called the chairperson who said he waited fifteen minutes and left. "We're cool, nobody is going to get drunk," we assured him. The woman with my friend was someone that I've seen for a few months who is struggling. She asked about the rentals where I live - not within her financial realities. I suggested the Women's Transitional house where I used to work. It is an ideal start for someone who wants to get clean and their life back on track.

I told her, I would pray about it because it says "Where two or more are gathered in his name, it will be done." My girlfriend suggested that we pray right then and there so we held hand and prayed. I am not a Churchy person but Divine Intervention happens.
