PHOTO FRIDAY - One Thousand Year Flood 2016 -White Sulpher Springs WV

What an adventurous day. Our local DAR Chapter had the potluck/meeting before the Summer Break. I remember when Bev and I were both struggling to get verified for qualification for DAR Membership. Now she is an officer and I am a volunteer Genealogist. This means I get to knock down brick walls and find all the skeletons. Oh what fun. I was surrounded by water driving home - praying that my vehicle would not be required to take a swim. I made it home and live on higher grounds so home is where I am going to stay until this flood goes away. June 23, 2016

Last year was the One Thousand Year Flood - I have survived California Fires courtesy of the Santa Ana Winds and Earthquakes courtesy of the San Andreas Fault, I have never seen a tornado and a Hurricane Party is one of the things on my bucket list that isn't likely to happen but this flood was one of the most devastating disasters that I have been close to.

There are several housebound seniors in my apartment. I was able to find and deliver water/food/cleaning supplies to them. I would have like to have done more but at least I was able to do something. I had my mission and other people had theirs/

Wow! Looks like a lot of damage there. Hope everyone if okay.

It only takes a drop of ink to make a million people think. There are many stories.

That flooding looks like it did a lot of damage. We have floods like that in Georgia now .

I was driving on the road in the first picture while it was falling apart. It was a scary, surreal experience.

It is amazing how fast flooding happens!

You were mighty lucky starwoman.

No kidding. That first picture was taken from the bridge on the interstate above the road. I remember debating on rather I wanted to stop at Wal-Mart before heading home. I opted to drive on home. I barely made it home. I live on a hill but the entire town below was flooded.
