FEET Washing utililized by CONGRESS and others!!!! Years ago, I taught Sunday School and decided to shake it up a bit to make it more interesting. We did a Feet Washing Ritual. There was a good mix of of different races and background. The loved it. There are simply ways to make amends. Simple kindnesses are a way to make amends. A few years ago, my and I were dining at the local Chinese Restaurant. I noticed that one of my favorite Wal-Mart Customers - an elderly black woman was dining alone. I anonymously paid her tab. I am not sure that is an amends because I have done the same for white folks. Another time, I pulled ahead of a Hispanic woman in a drive through line. I was going to let her go first but she wave me to go ahead. I paid for her order. I was making amends because of my own thoughtlessness not her color. Last week, I attended a Workshop on reparation and healing wounds cause by racism. This is a ceremony with a religious background that can be used to heal inner wounds. One person receives empowerment while the other learns humility. White people were washing the feet for people of color. My thought was "The Senators and Congressmen should do it for each other. Alabama Senator Luther Strange can wash New Jersey Cory Booker's feet. Georgia Congressman John Lewis can wash Senator John McCain's Feet. Sarah Palin can wash Maxine Water's feet. Rosie O'Donnell can wash Donald Trump's feet and afterwards Obama and Trump can totally baptize each other. Can you visualize the SFF bloggers in the political debates washing the opponent's feet. Leaf and Lizzie. Maggie and Biggie. North Dakota and Maisie. I will personally wash Dan's and Mrs. Joe's feet and toss in some reflexology. Afterward, I will call my Jamaican gentleman friend - tell him that he needs to make me some hot chocolate with marshmallows - so that I can savor it while he massages my feet. It will be fun and we will all get spiritual. .   Abracadabra  |

Hi Star: Good blog. The only people I've ever heard of that did feet washing were Jesus, Gandhi and Pope Francis, but I think it's a great idea and could sure bring some peace and forgiveness into this world. I don't remember any time in my life where people were so mean and violent. It feels like everyone hates each other and this group is sure not helping matters.

I have participated in one foot washing ceremony and it was indeed a very humbling experience. Today, I don't think I could kneel on the floor to administer it to another person, I would need a little stool and then help to get back up. Toss in a little reflexology, you say?  I could go for that. Be a prism, spreading God's light and love, not a mirror reflecting the world's hatred.
