Little Leaks We all know the consequences of "Little Leaks" We'd gotten a substantial amount of rain. Yet NONE in the rain gauge to inform us of the degree of downpour ... ??? I took a look at the old gauge then seen some cracks towards the bottom. It has sentimental value to me... It was my grandfather's. It also needed to be cleaned up after years out on the post.. Cottonwood seeds, bugs, and other rubbish. I took it apart, washed it up, dried it, and used a tube of Super Glue to hopefully seal up the bottom. I have a few more "sealing" options but this is the easiest and fastest. End of the day... back out on the post, hopefully repaired. |

A pleasant sunny day here 75 F ... 24 C mild breeze. Now with the "bubble pack" on my ankle I am able to put a little weight on my left leg and get around a bit better. I received a reasonable offer on the damaged Prussian Helmet.... Maybe my shop project for tomorrow after my visit to the specialist at the hospital. He is still concerned about my "red blood" count and where it might be going. JD went in and got "Meat Lover's " pizza for dinner here tonight and yes... I did have a salad with it tonight.

I'm glad you were able to repair the sentimental rain gauge. Now it is better than new.

It was a nice day here 70F, light SW wind, sun/cloud mix. It is great to hear that your ankle continues to heal, albeit slowly. Interesting that you have already found a purchaser for the damaged helmet. Meat lover's pizza.....my favorite kind. I will have a salad with lunch tomorrow.

I had a devastating day today. Was taking the little doggy I am looking after for a walk and he accidentally got underfoot and I stepped on his mid-section. He cried in pain and over the minutes he appeared to get more lethargic. I called the dog's owner who was just getting back into the village and he came over. We couldn't pick the dog up without hurting him, so slid a towel under him and used it as a stretcher to place him in the truck. He sped to the vet 28 miles away at 95mph. Xray showed the dog had 4 broken ribs and a bruised lung with some bleeding inside the lung. Other than that his general health was good. The next 24 hours will tell if he survives. If the lung continues to bleed internally, he will not make it. He will be back with me tomorrow and I will be administering morphine shots and oral medication, while trying to comfort him and limit his movement so the ribs can heal.I feel so badly.

Good as new again, and back in place. I hope the little dog recovers , he must have been in awful pain the poor little thing. A worrying time for all concerned.

Lunch time here and the little doggy is breathing better and has been on my lap all morning. As I was making lunch he wanted to go in the bedroom and lie down by the floor length mirror where he can see a little buddy who looks just like him. He is able to walk slowly without too much pain, and is thankful to be with his grandpa. Recovery will take a long time, and he eats when hand fed, but only drinks when fed with a syringe. He has some pain medication which I will administer in a few minutes. Thank you Darter for keeping the candle lit and including him in your prayers.
