Receiving Stolen Property A vicious rumor has arisen that I might have acquired "Stolen Property " To set the record straight; This poor orphan tree showed up in the back of a derelict pickup... What's a guy to do ? Just let it die unattended ? NOT ME ! I gave it a loving home where it will be cared for, nurtured, and well watered This downy hawthorn (Crataegus mollis ) is the largest and most common of the hawthorns found in Iowa. It's Low spreading branches are similar to an apple tree. They generally flower in May - June in our area. The fragrant blossoms are arranged in loose clumps. Right now you go outside and the air is sweet with the fragrance.. I don't know if the fruit is any good, however, the deer and birds enjoy them. |

Very pretty tree ! I just told my daughter we need to get more dirt for the planter we bought for the pineapple plant kid stated growing. We have to evict a blue tailed lizard though

Always nice to find a good home for a little tree if you have room. I had one of my tower poplars die over the winter. It was 45' tall. I cut it down this morning and hauled the debris to the big dumpster behind the village office. I am not going to plant a replacement tree. I am getting too old for nurturing .

That hawthorn has some nasty spikes, OUCH! I would want to be mowing around one of those bushes.

That cast sounds a lot lighter, and I hope it is more comfortable. So, can you just claim "finders-keepers" on that little tree? One think I regret is that I didn't plant a couple trees years ago: a Red Maple and a Mimosa. I just figured that they would not grow big enough for me to enjoy, but perhaps just the growing of them would have been enjoyable. Now, you have made me start to hanker for Chinese. Be a prism, spreading God's light and love, not a mirror reflecting the world's hatred.

I have heard that the airbag casts provide excellent support and are comfortable to wear.

Star, you may have to evict a lizard. I have to evict 2 baby skunks that have taken up residence under my deck, which is at the door I use hundreds of times every day. So far they are not paying any attention to my comings and goings, and go about their business mere feet from me.

The air bag cast will be so much lighter and easier to carry around for sure. I'm sure your little tree will thrive and be happy it it's new home. The hawthorn has such pretty little flowers and a lovely scent too.

I have an annual battle to eliminate thorny mesquite at the man cave. They grow fast, and easily puncture tractor tires. There is another tree about 40 ft. tall with huge thorns. I didn't realize it had thorns until last year when a small limb fell from it and I crunched it with a tractor tire. LOL That tree is next on the to do list. Thorny trees and rattlesnakes are almost on the same level here. LOL
