THAT PRETTY MUCH SOUNDS LIKE THE POLICE RAIDS IN DRUG INFESTED PARTS OF TOWNS HERE. MASSIVE RAIDS, A FEW ARRESTS, SUBSTANCES AND WEAPONS DISCOVERED AND THEN 24 HOURS LATER THE AREA IS BACK TO NORMAL. EVERYTHING AS JUST BEFORE. A LOT OF HYPE FOR MEAGER RESULTS.

Mayor Parker had no choice. She ran as mayor promising to finally solve the quality of life offenses for this particular community. No other politician dared to touch this issue because no one in government have the resources, financially and logistically to solve it. Wanting to fix the problem, is one thing, having the money to actually do it is another.

EVEN WITH THE MONEY THE PROBLEM WILL REMAIN UNSETTLED. MASSIVE INTERVENTION FAILS WHEN THERE IS NO CHANGE IN THE MENTALITY OF RESIDENTS. AUTHORITIES WILL JUST GO FROM FAILURE TO FAILURE.

Lots of these individuals have dual-diagnosis, drug addiction and mental health issues. It takes their entire lives to battle those demons, not many people can.

I swear they don't even try here. I support drop testing for welfare, as well as all jobs. I think rehab needs to be better funded and mandatory for any and all public benefits. I know it will never happen, but small steps would be an improvement. Any steps in that matter.

That is too bad. Thanks for sharing!

This seems to be a problem in most countries now. Too many people with no where for them to live. The powers that be don't seem to be able to get a handle on the problem either. I don't know where it's all going to end. It's a sad and serious situation.

Just more big show tactics. How many "wars" have our government waged on social issues, like drugs and poverty? And in every case, the situations just seem to get worse and worse.
Do I have a solution? No, but change has to start with love and compassion and work. And change can start on a small scale, one life or family at a time.... not some whole sale public show that costs taxpayers millions of dollars and does nothing but move the problem around.

Be a prism, spreading God's light and love, not a mirror reflecting the world's hatred.

The former campaign manager for this new Mayor worked with me at the health center in 2007. Thanks to his expertise and many empty promises she was elected.

I saw a picture of my friend with the Mayor's entourage in the front page of the Philadelphia Enquirer two days in a row. I realized then that they were simply doing a photo op for the newspapers. They wanted to make believe she accomplished a campaign promise.

It is very disappointing because I know the guy personally, and tried to serve as a mentor to him when we worked together.

If you do a search for Kensington/Allegheny clean up Mayor Cherelle Parker at the Philly Enquirer newspaper, you will see pictures of my friend and their entourage.

My previous comment was just denied. Will try to repost again.

I also added two new pictures.

My friend is the Hispanic young man wearing a light blue jacket in the second picture, walking in front.

The last picture, my friend is walking next to the lady mayor, on her right hand side.
